My name is Ali and I am an IELTS teacher. Teaching IELTS is actually my passion. I have been teaching English since 2002, but in 2009 I decided to focus exclusively on IELTS and since then I have just trained my students for this exam. During these years, I have endeavoured to help my students develop the necessary English language skills to be successful in their future business and particularly university setting. I am also proud of providing the best teaching methods for my students to help them get their IELTS score as soon as possible.
The students who have received disappointing IELTS results in previous attempts and didn't know why they got such a low score or others who couldn't afford to fail the IELTS test (it's expensive!) can come to me for consultation before taking the official IELTS exam.

My name is Susan and I live in Kent, England. I'm a qualified teacher with over 20 years experience. I love teaching English as I get to meet new and interesting people from around the world. From my own experience of learning French, I know just how hard and stressful learning a new language can be. I am always patient, caring and make my lessons fun, adapting to the needs of the student.
Teaching Approach
My teaching approach is based on what YOU want and what your expectations are.
I am currently learning French and finding listening very hard. I have used this experience to devise my own “Build up listening programme” to help support listening skills in English. Alternatively, I can help you prepare for job interviews or just general conversation practice for a holiday or a visit to England. Conversational classes are based on topics that you are interested in talking about and this is then used, to help support the development of reading, listening, speaking and writing skills.
I adopt a communicative approach and set clear, achievable goals for each lesson. Any new material will be presented clearly. It will then be practised in a variety of different ways but making sure you are speaking the majority of the time.
I am serious and structured in my approach but capitalise on my lively sense of humour to make my lessons exciting and fun. My lessons are well planned and prepared specifically for the individual. I feel that if a student is relaxed and happy then they are more likely going to learn more. Each student learns at a different rate and I want them to leave at the end of the lesson happy with themselves and wanting to learn more. I always ask the students to reflect on the lesson and what they think they have learnt.
I would love to help you with:
• General English (A1-C1)
• Developing your listening skills
• Conversational classes (A1-C1)
• Basic Interview Preparation
If you are an adult, whatever your level, I want to help improve your English!
What are you waiting for? Together we can succeed!!
My teaching Material
• Homework Assignments
• Power Point slides
• Video and audio files
• Articles and news
• Language games

Hello and welcome!
I am a qualified English teacher from the USA currently living in Spain. I have more than eight years of experience and have worked in five countries!
1. How can I help you?
I offer a mix of classes including Conversation, Grammar, Cambridge Prep, and Business. I focus on student-output and try to make a learner feel as comfortable as possible in the online environment.
I really encourage you to look at your Speaking skills and comfort. I find that even advanced students benefit from general conversation which I will happily guide.
2. What method do you use?
Together, we will decide what are your goals for the class. Then, I use a mix of multimedia (video, audio, online games) and tradition coursework.
Alongside working online, I also am an ESL teacher in a Spanish school.
3, I want to work on something specific.
Excellent! Join a class and share what you want to improve, focus on, learn and together. I am here to facilitate learning and make sure you see personal growth.
4. I am nervous to start learning English.
Personally, I have been studying Spanish for many years. I know it can cause anxiety to speak in another language. But the best thing to do is just start! Be clear with your goals, time frame, and intentions and go from there.
5. What are you interested in? Are we similar?
I have a love of travelling, and have combined my job (ESL teacher) with this hobby. I also spend a lot of time at the beach and hiking. But don't forget, it can assist in interesting conversations if we have different interests.

Hi, I am Harriet, a native English speaker and qualified teacher.
The lessons are structured around you as an individual and start with finding out what you want to learn or improve and why. We will then agree a plan of fun and challenging activities to help you meet your goals. I teach general conversation skills, including increasing confidence and learning new vocabulary, and Business English. I have helped many students successfully prepare for job interviews or to take on new roles. I can also help you prepare for the language tests.
The lessons will be lively and varied, using a range of methods, materials and contexts. We will regularly review your progress and goals and I will suggest activities outside of class to help you practice what you have learnt. I am experienced in teaching beginners to advanced level students from teenagers to adults. I have Masters degrees in Creative Writing and Psychology and so am able to use and teach both creative and academic language skills.
I live in Hove in southeast England and also spend a lot of time in Lisbon, Portugal. I am trying to learn Portuguese and finding it challenging but fun. I love meeting new people and finding out about them and what motivates them. I enjoy reading, eating out, drinking coffee, walking, exploring new places, TV and movies and talking to people. I look forward to meeting you and taking our first lesson together!

I gained my CELTA in 2020 and I have been teaching English ever since, sometimes on-site at St George's International, a North London College, but more often, online, at home, which I really enjoy!
My method; I like to keep to a lesson plan, but only because that gives a class a good structure, making it simpler for students to understand the small part of the language we are focusing on. I keep it interesting by using various tools, like videos, audio tracks, images and games etc.
Aside from teaching I'm an actress and voiceover artist, - I have a strong interest in film and the arts, and occasionally it's fun reading dialogues or using stories/ scripts with students.
I also travelled quite a lot in my twenties, and love to learn about different cultures and interests, - I'm interested in what you want from the English language.

Hello there! My name is Savannah. I am so excited to be here teaching English on LanguaTalk. I have been teaching English online for over a year. I pride myself on being a patient and kind teacher - mistakes are all part of learning. :) I teach using a direct method, using conversation rather than grammar with gentle corrections as mistakes happen, while praising and guiding for the correct use of language. I love to meet new people and learn about different cultures and languages. Let's talk about yours and have some fun learning English along the way!

We’re confident you’ll love learning via LanguaTalk. We're trusted by students all over the world because we're transparent. We ask students to rate each lesson, and we display reviews on tutors’ profiles.
99.8% of lesson ratings are 5 stars. Why? Because unlike other platforms, we accept only the top 10% of tutor applications.
To see our full FAQs or get help from our friendly team, click the '?' in the corner of the screen. You can also watch students talking about their experiences learning via LanguaTalk below.
1-on-1 lessons are perhaps the best way to improve speaking skills, and because of this many students use LanguaTalk to learn to speak English fluently. That said, some people have other, more specific goals. Let your tutor know what your goals are and they'll tailor the lessons to your personal needs. Most tutors can help with any of the following:
Most of the English tutors on our site are able to teach students of all levels. When you click on a tutor's profile you'll see if certain levels are not supported. For example, certain tutors cannot teach complete beginners.
Likewise, you can also see on the tutor's profile whether they're suitable for all ages. Lessons are sometimes taken via LanguaTalk to support school/college studies. Usually, the tutor will be able to customise the lessons to follow the material and topics covered in the student's exams. Note that as per our Terms & Conditions, students who are under 18 must get permission from a legal guardian before booking.
New to LanguaTalk? You'll have one credit for a free trial. Most tutors offer a trial for free. If they do not, they’ll offer a trial session at a discount compared to their usual hourly rate.
Trial sessions are 30 minutes. They allow you to assess whether the tutor is a good fit for you, and get a feel for learning online. The tutor will assess your level and aim to understand your needs and interests so that they can customise any lessons you decide to take. You'll be encouraged to speak in English as much as possible, but of course you can speak in English too! Book a trial today to see if taking English lessons on Zoom/Skype works well for you.
After your session, if you feel that the tutor isn’t quite right for you, you can simply book a trial with someone else.
Lessons are taught 1-on-1 so that you receive your tutor’s full attention and can make fast progress. Communicating via video call, you’ll be able to talk to your tutor and share learning materials as if you were in the same room.
The tutors vary in terms of their teaching methods, resources, experience, and personalities. So we suggest you look at several profiles to choose the best tutor for you. Whichever tutor you pick, they'll aim to tailor the lessons to your individual needs.
The vast majority of students take 55-minute lessons. But some tutors also provide the option of 30-minute lessons. If they do, you’ll see this noted on their profile (below their pricing and above the ‘Buy Lessons’ button).
55-minute lessons are recommended for most students. In general, we only suggest considering 30-minute lessons if they’re for your child, or you have an intermediate level and only want conversation practice.
The beauty of taking lessons online is that you can learn anytime, anywhere. To see tutors who are likely to fit your weekly schedule, use the availability filter at the top. Then when you see a tutor you like, check their profile calendar to make sure their time slots work for you. Some tutors have limited availability as they already have lots of students.
We want students to have an exceptional learning experience on LanguaTalk, so we only accept the very best tutor applications. Though we consider qualifications and experience, we place equal value on communication skills, personality and reviews from previous students. Almost all of the tutors are native speakers of the language they teach, and they can speak English too.
Each tutor is unique - they have different backgrounds, strengths, teaching methods and personalities. So we suggest you browse several profiles to find the right tutor for you.
Our booking system is designed to be easy to use. You can see tutors' available slots in your local time zone. If you choose to book lessons with a tutor, you'll be able to buy them one at a time, or purchase in bulk with a volume discount. You can pay securely by card on our website.
You can manually add bookings to your personal calendar, or if you use Google calendar, you can add bookings automatically with our syncing feature. You'll also be able to receive email reminders to help ensure you don't forget to turn up.
You can reschedule or cancel lessons in a couple of clicks. Please note that this can be done up to 24 hours before the lesson time. We have this policy to be fair to tutors, who cannot replace lessons at the last minute and need some form of income protection.
English lessons via Zoom/Skype tend to be cheaper than face-to-face because the tutor doesn't need to travel. Online English tutors may cost between $14 to $50 per hour, but be aware that very cheap tutors on certain websites may lack experience. On LanguaTalk, English tutors typically charge between $14 and $40 per hour.
Of course, receiving English tutoring via Zoom or Skype is not the cheapest way to learn; you could learn via a free app instead. But if you're serious about learning, nothing beats 1-on-1 English lessons with a great teacher.
According to the Foreign Service Institute, if you already speak English, English is one of the easiest languages to learn. The exact amount of time it will take you to become fluent will depend on many factors, such as your current level, your knowledge of similar languages, your capacity to learn, how you study, and how intensively you study. Some students who take multiple English lessons on Zoom/Skype each week will be able to go from beginner to conversational fluency within a couple of months. Others will take longer. Combining 1-on-1 lessons with an online English tutor with regular self-study is an effective way to learn English fast.
Most tutors offer both Skype and Zoom as options for the lessons. If they only offer one of these, this will be stated on their profile. Both tools are free, easy to use and perfect for language learning. They allow you to do everything you would do in a physical classroom: speak, listen, read, write, and share learning materials. Your tutor will typically write corrections directly in the chat area so that you can later revise everything you’ve learnt.
Most English tutors using Skype/Zoom also use other technologies and resources to enhance the learning experience, for example Google Docs (for real-time collaboration), videos, and PowerPoint slides. If you're unable to take the English lessons via Zoom or Skype, please contact our support team and we’ll get in touch with the tutor you're interested in to see if they're able to use an alternative video technology, such as Google Meet.
Students sometimes feel unsure about learning online because they think it won't be as effective as learning face-to-face. But usually when they try it, they find that the experience is almost the same and they often build a strong relationship with their tutor.
Once you start a video call with your chosen English tutor on Zoom/Skype, you’ll be able to communicate with them as if you were in the same room. They’ll usually also share learning resources with you (using Google Docs, YouTube etc.) and you’ll be able to collaborate in real-time.
There is no 'best way' to learn a language - it depends on many factors, such as your needs, level and budget. If you can't afford to take 1-on-1 English lessons on Zoom/Skype, you can use a free app like Duolingo to build your vocab. And to improve your listening skills, you can try watching TV and listening to podcasts in English. But to learn how to actually speak a language, you need to talk to a native speaker on a regular basis and receive accurate feedback so that you improve. If you want to make fast progress, it's best to take private lessons that are tailored to your personal needs by an experienced teacher.
