Olá! My name is Carolina and it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Portuguese, and I have been teaching my mother tongue for over 6 years at university level. I like to diversify the materials I use as much as possible to focus on all different aspects of the language, but I tend to prioritize speaking practice. I have taught courses as diverse as Spoken Portuguese, Advanced Writing, Portuguese Culture/Literature, and even Sports Readings in Portuguese. Your language goals will always play a part when planning our lessons, so don't hesitate to tell me what you expect.

If you plan on visiting Portugal as a tourist or have Portuguese speaking friends/relatives you may prefer a conversational approach, but if you're interested in using the language for business, you may be interested in learning how to compose an e-mail in Portuguese (an underestimated art form). No matter what your motivation to learn Portuguese is, I am keen in hearing about it. I'll also try to accomodate your interests as much as possible.

If you are curious about the story of how I became a Portuguese teacher, read ahead:

I studied Modern Languages at the University of Coimbra (look it up; it's one of the oldest universities in Europe!) and Literature at the University of Glasgow (quite a stunner as well). One day, a Chinese friend at the pub asked me whether I'd like to apply to his home university, all the way in China, as a Portuguese lecturer. I said 'no way,' so naturally, I ended up moving there shortly after and living in the beautiful city of Harbin for 3 amazing years. Not only did that experience provide me with adventure, but also a lifelong calling: I have loved teaching ever since. After returning to Portugal, I taught online for two years at Beijing Sport University and a few other language schools operating around the world. Now I work as a freelance online teacher and divide my time between Portugal and Sweden.

Hello Everyone! Welcome to fun and enjoyable Portuguese lessons online!

My name is Paula and I am a qualified Portuguese teacher. I studied to be a Waldorf primary teacher and also completed the TEFL, which additionally allows me to teach English.I also have a bachelor's degree is in Cinema and Communication.

I am half Brazilian/half Portuguese and I also teach both Brazilian and European Portuguese, depending on your preference. I am fascinated by all the varieties of my language and the small distinctions between them. It's so beautiful! 

I first meet students for a trial lesson, to get to know their objectives, their interests, and what kind of learners they are. Each person is different and I try to adapt to every student. In my classes, I use a communicative approach and we start talking from day 1. My goal is to make students feel comfortable with the language and not be afraid to make mistakes. I work on the development of speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills, as well as proper pronunciation and vocabulary enhancement.

In my classes, you will learn about Brazilian or Portuguese culture, through music, texts, videos, quizzes, and pictures. Classes for children are full of games and arts!

I’m an expert in diction and pronunciation.

My goal is to help build trust in people who want to learn Portuguese. My experience as a teacher has already allowed me to connect with students from all continents. This is a unique capital of knowledge and culture. Understanding people and their needs are fundamental to the teaching process.

I have a degree in social communication and a post-graduation in the same area. I’m also a graduated artist with a special taste for collage and digital art.

I have been working in communication, consulting and training for over 30 years. I worked with the Portuguese government and other higher organs of sovereignty for many years. My experience gives me excellent business knowledge of trades.

I also have experience as a trainer in Portuguese. I was a trainer in communication, media training and ethics and compliance. I’m versatile, proactive, creative, calm, and easy to get along with.

I love to know people, other contexts and countries and I’m especially suited to teach adults at levels A2 and B1 and B2.

I am an expert in diction, communication, how to speak well in public and also in media training. I adapt to the student’s interests, creating, in collaboration with them, an environment favourable to study and motivation for learning.  I also design a study plan appropriate to the intended objectives.
