Hi, I'm Catarina and I am a native Portuguese speaker who loves to teach and learn. I like to adapt the lessons to my students and have been teaching all levels, from beginner to advanced.  I have a Pedagogical Skills Certificate which allows me to give training here in Portugal and have a passion for sharing some knowledge of my language and also learning from people with different nationalities and backgrounds.

To communicate authentically with people from other countries, it's essential to go beyond grammar and learn to speak the language naturally.

Even though my teaching method is guided by textbooks, I'm not a rigid teacher who teaches the kind of boring grammar you learned in school. I talk to my students in a friendly way and adapt the content to what you really need and want.

Initially, I will observe your progress calmly to learn what your strengths and weaknesses are. After that, we will advance at your pace, with homework that doesn't overwhelm you.

Yes, I use the language we have in common to help me explain more difficult topics. But don't think of this as something that will delay your learning, because we'll have conversation time from the very first lesson! So you can bring up topics for chitchat whenever you want. I myself like to talk about: history, shows, movies, music, books, and things that happen in everyday life.

Besides, I'm a CELTA-certified teacher: a worldwide recognized qualification for English teachers. My studies and reserch on Brazilian culture enable me to discuss different topics related to Brazil, especially Afro Brazilian culture and its influences.

I'm an accomplished educator, translator and transcriber in Portuguese, English and French with over 8 years of experience, hailing from the state of Goiás in Brazil. I have a Bachelor's degree in Languages (French and Francophone studies major) and I am currently a Master's degree student in Cultural Studies in France. Immersed in the picturesque city of Bordeaux for more than 3 years now, I've embraced its cultural treasures, complementing my diverse background in music, art and culture.

Throughout my teaching tenure, I've engaged with various age groups and proficiency levels in Portuguese, English, and French. Beginning as an English tutor for high school and college students, I progressed to teaching English across different skill levels and facilitating dynamic conversation classes at a professional institution. Moreover, I had the privilege of serving as a Portuguese language tutor for France Éducation Internationale, an initiative backed by the French government. In 2019, I transitioned to online instruction, mentoring children aged 4-12 in English while also leading French as a Foreign Language (FLE) sessions for small groups and individuals ranging from A2 to C1 levels. 

During our first trial lesson, I will make sure to understand your goals, what you like, and how you learn best. I always keep in mind that everyone is different, so I adjust my material for each student. I like using the communicative approach, encouraging conversation right from day one in a suitable way (level-wise). But I am also qualified to focus on grammar and very specific aspects of the language if you desire or if we judge this necessary. 

As a language, art and culture enthusiast and professional, in my sessions, you'll delve into Brazilian culture through music, literature, videos, quizzes and many other tools. 

Language learning has to be fun, in my opinion. That’s why we will always talk about things that interest and inspire you. If we’re practicing grammar or just talking about something else, I want to make it interesting for you and link the grammatical and formal terms to real-life subjects. Therefore, your emotional filter will be open and as a result your journey will be fun and enriching.

My name is Pamela, I'm from Brazil and I'm ready to help you learn Portuguese with ease. My name is Micaela, I'm 30 years old and I'm from the Azores, Portugal :)  I am here to make you have a good time while learning Portuguese.

All materials are provided for free, like books, PDFs, exercises etc. I like to immerse my students in the Portuguese culture as much as possible, using music, sending articles for homework etc.

If you have a kid or more, don't worry anymore. I love to work with children as well, and I have the experience and the material for a great kid-friendly lesson. 

I use TPR teaching Techniques and other methodologies.
