About me:

I’m Diana, a friendly and patient English teacher from the beautiful city of Cape Town currently living in Portugal. In 2017, I completed my TESOL and TEYLT trainings and since then I have worked with students from all around the world both in language schools and online. I have lived and taught English in 5 different countries (Spain, Portugal, Indonesia, Turkey and South Africa) to students of all levels (beginners to advanced). In 2021, I became certified to teach Ielts and have thus helped numerous students with  their exam preparations too.

I'm passionate about learning and teaching languages and have studied Portuguese, Spanish, German and Turkish. Through my own language studies, I have learnt that an active conversational approach is the best way to master a language! Some of my other passions include yoga, travel, food and art!:)

My lessons:

My approach to teaching depends a lot on the level and goals of the student. Each student is unique with different necessities so I don’t have a one size fits all proposition. Lessons are tailored to you and are adapted as you progress.Expect to receive a lot of feedback, corrections and if you would like, homework activities.

Do you need English for work, a job interview, or life in an English-speaking country? Do you want to speak English with more confidence? I'm Iren, and I offer speaking lessons for adults.  My conversation lessons focus on one topic per session, like health, work, meals, money, transportation, and other topics you are interested in. Before the lesson, I will give you an article (from english-online.net or another online source) about the topic for you to study to prepare. In the conversation lesson, we will talk about the topic. You will expand your English vocabulary with my suggestions.  You will review spoken grammar when you use it in the conversation and receive my constant feedback.  I will explain the grammar point if needed.  You will leave the lesson with many notes and exercises for further practice. 

I have five years of experience teaching adults English as a Second Language using this method.  I know it builds your vocabulary,  grammar, pronunciation skills, and confidence.   I also have a TEFL certificate from the University of Toronto.

My name is Vicki and I am a CELTA-qualified English teacher for speakers of other languages. CELTA is the teaching certificate issued by Cambridge University. I have taught all levels of English and all ages. I currently teach 100 percent online and I highly enjoy getting to know people from all over the world. I am also a cross-cultural communication specialist. As a result, I can help you improve your English skills and guide you in how to communicate in culturally appropriate ways. I also have an academic background (a Ph.D. in Social and Political Thought and a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in Art History and Political Studies). My time at university developed my understanding and use of the English language to an advanced level.  

I am a New Zealander living in Germany, and as a language learner myself (German), I know how important it is to enjoy the learning process and to feel safe to make mistakes. I am a very friendly and encouraging teacher and I strive to adapt my lessons to my students' specific needs, wants, and interests. Conversational English; many students have a strong understanding of English grammar and vocabulary, but struggle to hold everyday conversations with native speakers. Conversational classes focus on improving students' abilities to speak more naturally and spontaneously about a range of topics.   

In addition to language lessons, I can also help with editing texts such as scripts and emails.

Please note, that while I can understand a lot of German my spoken level is B1 and my lessons are normally held completely in English.
