Hi everyone, I am Anna and I am a professional Italian teacher for foreigners. I come from Venice where I live and work. I can help you in the study of modern Italian as it is really spoken nowadays. I am a bilingual Italian and English teacher and a freelance translator at Ca' Foscari University in Venice. I completed the ITALS Master's degree for teaching Italian language and culture to foreigners. My field of specialization and current research is Psycholinguistics and Neurolinguistics to better understand what happens in our brains and minds when we study a foreign language and what emotions are involved. When I am not teaching, I travel. I lived in London for a while and also in Liverpool while I was writing my dissertation. I also speak Spanish, so I am also a language student and understand very well how difficult it is to study a language.

My name is Ilaria and I studied International Communication at "University for Foreigners of Perugia", but don't worry (in Italian we would say "tranquillo"), I'm 100% italian!

I have a certification of competence in teaching Italian as a foreign language or second language (CEDILS) issued by the Ca' Foscari University of Venice.

My first experience in teaching Italian as a second language was in 2009 in the south of France.

Once back in Italy I began teaching Italian to foreign students at school...it was 2010.

I've been doing it since then and my students come from all over the world. Today I know for sure that is not enough to be a "native" to teach someone a language.

Grammar is often considered boring but we can't avoid learning it. Only when you know the role and function of every single word in a sentence you'll have a solid understanding that will improve your confidence in speaking a foreign language.  

It's like to lay the foundations for building a house!

Ciao! My name is Silvana and I have been teaching Italian at all levels for over 10 years.  

Since I was a child, I have had a great passion for foreign languages and the different cultures of the world. This passion has helped me in my many travels and cultural interactions with people from all over the world.

I worked for many years in the tourism industry and I have many hobbies and interests. I like reading, art, cooking (Italian food, of course!), music, sports, cinema, trekking, holistic therapies and much more!  

I love my language and I love to teach it! I teach Italian to adults and children, from beginner to proficiency level, in a simple and engaging way. Every lesson is personalized, using different material (books, articles, videos, audios, games, etc.). My motto is: "learning Italian is fun!"

I have a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature (specialising in American studies) at the University Institute "L'Orientale" in Naples and I hold a post-graduate Masters degree in "Didactic methodologies for teaching Italian to foreigners - Teaching Italian as a foreign language/second language".

If you're just starting and you don't know many Italian words, don't worry! In the beginning, we can speak English. Later, we are going to speak only in Italian!

I create customized lessons based on your needs and interests. I will provide you with all the material you need and I will focus on the reading and listening comprehension with the beginners (so they can start to become acquainted with the Italian language) and on conversation and fluency with the intermediate/advanced ones. Grammatical elements will be introduced as you work on your reading, listening and speaking: in this way you will learn about the language structures more naturally. During the first lesson I will give you a placement test (in order to find out your language level) and we will set the goals of the course together.
