I have been teaching English for 12 years. I spent some time teaching in China (I can speak a tiny bit of Chinese) and now I am back to teaching online in the USA! I have taught almost every age, as well as every level. My goal is to help students find and keep that inspiration to learn English! In my free time I am always making new things (I like to be crafty). I also love reading, writing, playing video games, watching anime, making music, and playing with my dog Mochi!

I have a degree in Brain & Cognitive Sciences from MIT, one of the premier research institutions in the world, and I am very familiar with the academic world in the US. I have an extensive background in non-profit organization management, especially in grassroots movements and education-related work. I've also worked as a writing consultant and math tutor/teacher. Do you need English for work, a job interview, or life in an English-speaking country? Do you want to speak English with more confidence? I'm Iren, and I offer speaking lessons for adults.  My conversation lessons focus on one topic per session, like health, work, meals, money, transportation, and other topics you are interested in. Before the lesson, I will give you an article (from english-online.net or another online source) about the topic for you to study to prepare. In the conversation lesson, we will talk about the topic. You will expand your English vocabulary with my suggestions.  You will review spoken grammar when you use it in the conversation and receive my constant feedback.  I will explain the grammar point if needed.  You will leave the lesson with many notes and exercises for further practice.

I believe language learning should be exciting, not a cause of stress. It's just another mode of expression, after all. It's like learning to paint or to draw, to walk or to dance; it takes some time to master the first few steps, but once a student gets moving through the language, they'll soon find they're able to express their true personality in no time at all. My role is help you through all of those steps, whether you're an advanced student or just starting out, and I do this by creating an learning environment that is completely individualised to you, your learning style and goals. 

I am teaching a variety of students, engaging in conversation practise; practising listening, reading and writing skills; studying grammar; preparing for exams; and even helping students who are interested in taking their creative writing to the next level!
