About me:

I’m Diana, a friendly and patient English teacher from the beautiful city of Cape Town currently living in Portugal. In 2017, I completed my TESOL and TEYLT trainings and since then I have worked with students from all around the world both in language schools and online. I have lived and taught English in 5 different countries (Spain, Portugal, Indonesia, Turkey and South Africa) to students of all levels (beginners to advanced). In 2021, I became certified to teach Ielts and have thus helped numerous students with  their exam preparations too.

I'm passionate about learning and teaching languages and have studied Portuguese, Spanish, German and Turkish. Through my own language studies, I have learnt that an active conversational approach is the best way to master a language! Some of my other passions include yoga, travel, food and art!:)

My lessons:

My approach to teaching depends a lot on the level and goals of the student. Each student is unique with different necessities so I don’t have a one size fits all proposition. Lessons are tailored to you and are adapted as you progress.Expect to receive a lot of feedback, corrections and if you would like, homework activities.

Hello, I'm teacher Kelly and I'm a native English speaker from the UK. 

I completed my TEFL in Asia and have over 8 years teaching experience with kids and adults from a combination of working in schools and online. My students tell me I have a clear and neutral accent that is easy to understand. They often comment on my relaxed and fun energy in my lessons. 

When working with children I create vibrant and interactive lessons that include phonics, writing & reading. After each class a worksheet or activity can be given. When working with adults I also like to create fun lessons. Learning grammar is stressful and I like to focus more on conversation and simplified explanations. We learn about phrasal verbs, idioms and lots of other things a new learner should need to be able to understand and speak like a native. 

As a teacher I believe it is important to make the students feel comfortable and give them a safe space to learn and not to be afraid to make mistakes. Learning a new language is not easy it takes time and dedication, I understand this and try to build the students confidence as much as possible.

I have a degree in Brain & Cognitive Sciences from MIT, one of the premier research institutions in the world, and I am very familiar with the academic world in the US. I have an extensive background in non-profit organization management, especially in grassroots movements and education-related work. I've also worked as a writing consultant and math tutor/teacher. Hi there! My name is Alessia and I'm a certified English teacher from Canada. I've been living in Lucca, Italy for the past seven years and I love it! 

I've been teaching for over seven years now. In 2016 I completed my TESOL certificate and shortly thereafter began teaching at a private elementary school. I've worked with people ages 5-55 and my favourite thing about teaching is getting to know people from different cultures and learning all about their customs and traditions. My second favourite thing is seeing my students succeed and achieve their language goals! 

My approach to teaching depends on the individual needs of my students. Each lesson is customized to the unique goals of my students. That being said, you can definitely expect homework in my classes! For conversation lessons, we'll focus on using media to expand your vocabulary and spend the entire lesson speaking about different topics. For those who need a grammar brush-up, we'll use various books to support your learning but still focus on conversation to help you fully integrate what you've just learned! 

I also have experience preparing students for the IELTS exam for both immigration and academic purposes. I absolutely love the IELTS exam in that it provides students with a real challenge and something to aspire to. I have a wide variety of resources that I use to help you prepare which cover everything from grammar and vocabulary to the actual "how-to's" of writing the exam. If you are interested in working with me on exam prep, I suggest AT LEAST 3-6 months to prepare properly for the exam since you'll not only need to improve your language skills but also your exam-taking skills.

Me as a Teacher
I am a professional English teacher with more than 30 years of teaching experience mainly in US - NYC and UK - East Midlands. Initially as a college English and Maths teacher, these days I teach online. My learners are students who tend to improve their school grades, students who are preparing for international exams, business professionals who work or intend to work for international companies or people who learn English for pleasure.  For every individual I usually prepare some tasks for a free talk, grammar practice or a role-play situation with targeting vocabulary and phrases. There is always a summary, a given feedback at the end of the class which helps my learners to make progress highly visible.
