I create customized lessons based on your needs and interests. I will provide you with all the material you need and I will focus on the reading and listening comprehension with the beginners (so they can start to become acquainted with the Italian language) and on conversation and fluency with the intermediate/advanced ones. Grammatical elements will be introduced as you work on your reading, listening and speaking: in this way you will learn about the language structures more naturally. During the first lesson I will give you a placement test (in order to find out your language level) and we will set the goals of the course together.

I would describe myself as a patient and helpful tutor. I have many years of experience in giving one-to-one lessons to students of any age, I love my job and having the chance to know other cultures!

With me, you can improve your conversational Italian. I have more than 6 years of experience tutoring students with different levels of Italian. Some of them were beginners when they started and they managed to reach a good level of Italian after a few months. I also helped more experienced students with their university exams or thesis. My name is Ilaria and I studied International Communication at "University for Foreigners of Perugia", but don't worry (in Italian we would say "tranquillo"), I'm 100% italian!

I have a certification of competence in teaching Italian as a foreign language or second language (CEDILS) issued by the Ca' Foscari University of Venice.

My first experience in teaching Italian as a second language was in 2009 in the south of France.

Once back in Italy I began teaching Italian to foreign students at school...it was 2010.

I've been doing it since then and my students come from all over the world. Today I know for sure that is not enough to be a "native" to teach someone a language.

Grammar is often considered boring but we can't avoid learning it. Only when you know the role and function of every single word in a sentence you'll have a solid understanding that will improve your confidence in speaking a foreign language.  

It's like to lay the foundations for building a house!

I like to keep my teaching varied and fresh! First of all, I adjust my teaching to the age and the needs of the students, but I always love to interact a lot during lessons (that is also the best way to learn a language and to have fun ;) ) Depending on the student, I use songs, tales, newspaper, ppt presentation or exercises. 

Teaching is a passion for me, that is why I have been doing it for 3 years! I have taught different students with different needs. I taught for 6 months to two students of 14 years old who needed some help because they were not going good at school, then I helped a 20 years old guy to pass his boarding exam for three months and my latest student is a girl of 22 years old who has to take a university exam.

I’m graduated in Foreign Languages and I have a Master’s degree in Audiovisual Translation.

I can speak English and Spanish at a good level and I also speak a little bit of French.

As you can see from my background, I’m a big fan of languages, so I fully understand how difficult it is to learn a new language. But I’m here to help you!

In Rome I teach Italian as a foreign language to young adults coming from all over Europe, from complete beginners to intermediate and advanced levels. So, my classes depend a lot on the level of the student.

At beginner level I focus mainly on the basic aspects of communication, using readings, songs and videos,with more emphasis on grammar.

At advanced levels the classes are more informal, based on conversations regarding different topics that we can choose together.
