About me:

I’m Diana, a friendly and patient English teacher from the beautiful city of Cape Town currently living in Portugal. In 2017, I completed my TESOL and TEYLT trainings and since then I have worked with students from all around the world both in language schools and online. I have lived and taught English in 5 different countries (Spain, Portugal, Indonesia, Turkey and South Africa) to students of all levels (beginners to advanced). In 2021, I became certified to teach Ielts and have thus helped numerous students with  their exam preparations too.

I'm passionate about learning and teaching languages and have studied Portuguese, Spanish, German and Turkish. Through my own language studies, I have learnt that an active conversational approach is the best way to master a language! Some of my other passions include yoga, travel, food and art!:)

My lessons:

My approach to teaching depends a lot on the level and goals of the student. Each student is unique with different necessities so I don’t have a one size fits all proposition. Lessons are tailored to you and are adapted as you progress.Expect to receive a lot of feedback, corrections and if you would like, homework activities.

We'll talk about food and make sure you have all the vocabulary you need.    Do you need to talk to your co-workers in English?  Tell me all the office gossip -- I'll teach you the expressions to stay "in the know".   For talking to your boss, I show you some more formal expressions.   Did you immigrate to a new country -- the US, the UK, any other?  Let's talk about your immigrant journey.  

Our goal is for you to practice your recall of English words and phrases in real time.  You will also practice expressing your way "around" an idea when you can't easily remember the English word or phrase,  

During the lesson, I put all these corrections and suggestions into a Quizlet deck of digital flashcards that you can study later, so that all that feedback goes into your long-term memory.  We also review these flashcards at the start of lessons.  

To provide you with additional review material, I offer to record our conversation lessons.  

In all these lessons, translation from your native language is used carefully.   Memorizing translations, or using it too much, can stop your ability to start thinking in English. 

About Me

I have a TEFL certificate from the University of Toronto.  I've taught English online to adults since 2019.  

My great love is history and historical fiction, and I'm an amateur writer.    I love to travel, and in the past year I've spent two months in Buenos Aires and two months in Prague.  I've studied Spanish, and I'm now studying the Russian language.

Hi there! My name is Alessia and I'm a certified English teacher from Canada. I've been living in Lucca, Italy for the past seven years and I love it! 

I've been teaching for over seven years now. In 2016 I completed my TESOL certificate and shortly thereafter began teaching at a private elementary school. I've worked with people ages 5-55 and my favourite thing about teaching is getting to know people from different cultures and learning all about their customs and traditions. That being said, you can definitely expect homework in my classes! For conversation lessons, we'll focus on using media to expand your vocabulary and spend the entire lesson speaking about different topics. I also have experience preparing students for the IELTS exam for both immigration and academic purposes.
