My name is Melina and I am from Peru. I studied foreign languages at the National University of Cajamarca in the north of Peru and I got a degree in Education – Foreign languages. I speak Spanish (native) and English (B2) very well.

I will help you to learn Spanish for you to achieve your specific goals taking into account your needs, your level and your learning process. Our lessons will include videos, everyday Spanish conversations, slides and more. We will also have cultural activities such as gastronomy, music and tourism. The four skills to learn a foreign language will be included as well: reading, writing, listening and speaking, and you will also have the grammar so that you can understand the language and produce it.

I have worked with people from different ages and levels and I have helped some of them to pass international exams.  Over the last 20 years I have taught English and Spanish and I always try to do my best for my students to enjoy the lessons, have fun and above all to learn.

A little bit more about me: I was born and raised in Zaragoza, a small city in the North of Spain famous for its wine, food and a football team that used to be good. I prefer to teach grammar with  examples because they contain chunks of grammar that we will later encounter in other phrases and grammar constructions. You will create your examples and incorporate the grammar rules. We will learn grammar from real-life scenarios where people communicate naturally their thoughts, following a communicative learning approach. We will also work on Google Sheets, which you will always have access to and where we can work on and save all of our learning sessions.

I will send you homework regularly just so you can work on your Spanish in between every session that we have. 

I encourage you to focus on the process rather than the outcome. IIf we trust the process, we make progress! Falling in love with the journey of language acquisition is the most rewarding path by far.

My training as a Spanish instructor is based on studies of Spanish grammar and using the communicative approach methodology that is based on practical and simple activities that help develop skills such as oral expression, listening comprehension, writing with dictation and reading as well. Of course phonetics is included. Each class focuses on the specific needs of each student.

In each class I emphasize oral practice to help students feel confident to express themselves naturally in specific situations.

In some cases, the grammatical structure is included in a simplified and dynamic way, and the grammatical concepts may or may not be used in our class, depending on the interests or preferences of each student.

Also, I like to share the history and culture of my country and Latin America through the practice of Spanish as a natural practice for intermediate and advanced Spanish.
