My name is Valeria and I am a professional Italian Teacher. I hold a CEDILS certificate to teach Italian to foreigners, a Ph.D in Asian Studies and I have 10 years of teaching experience at Chinese Universities as well as one to one tutoring in the UK. I have specialised in teaching to Chinese speakers who wish to study in Italy, to European professionals who work for Italian companies, and to retirees passionate about culture and travels. 

I adapt my lesson according to your interests and needs. In every lesson you will find something interesting and stimulating. I teach general, academic and business Italian. I can also help you prepare for language exams. My communicative approach allows the students to speak without inhibitions. I use authentic materials which reflect different aspects of everyday life. I usually start with a written text, a video, or an audio recording, then I focus on vocabulary and grammatical analysis. I graduated in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation in Milan in 2013 and afterwards I achieved the Master Itals aimed at teaching the Italian language and culture to foreigners.

I have taught Italian for four years in La Paz, Bolivia by the SOCIETà DANTE ALIGHIERI, giving classes to adults and university students, while I have taught to kids and adolescents by the Colegio Italo-Boliviano of the same city.

I returned to Italy in 2019 and I was given the opportunity to teach Italian through the Berlitz school by the Leonardo Elicotteri Company, addressing to English managers and engineers.

As regards my teaching method, the student is the centre of the learning process.

Therefore I customize my lessons considering your interests and the topics you want to talk about using different materials like videos, songs, online activities, along with written texts.

This way lessons are based especially on CONVERSATION as I think that each language's goal is to communicate.

With me, you can improve your conversational Italian. I have more than 6 years of experience tutoring students with different levels of Italian. Some of them were beginners when they started and they managed to reach a good level of Italian after a few months. I also helped more experienced students with their university exams or thesis. Although I specialize in teaching Italian phonetics to foreigners, especially English, Spanish, and Portuguese students, I always adapt my lessons to your level (A1-C1) and goals.
In the first free lesson, I will give you feedback about your level of Italian and ask you about your objectives and motivations.
Then, after understanding your level, I will create a plan to make your language learning fun and efficient and share it with you.
In particular, if your main aim is only to learn the Italian language, we can focus on all the aspects of the language (grammar, reading, writing, listening, speaking).
Instead, if you need to learn more about Italian culture, we will discuss history and traditions while learning the language.

I am very fond of Italian culture and I love to spread it all over the world. To know "Italy" is not only about visiting the cities of Milan, Florence or Venice. Italy is much more.
It is experiencing the calm of the Alps, hiking the Dolomites, eating Neapolitan street food, and being charmed by the Sardinian or Apulian transparent sea.
It is discovering Sicilian ways of life, hiking Mount Etna (Europe's largest active volcano), its widespread Bronte pistachio, and wines, both of them grown on volcanic soil.
But, first of all, it is a land of contrasts, which can be clearly understood only if you visit both northern and southern Italy, by getting in touch with the locals and their ways of life.
