If you're unable to find an affordable private French teacher in Geneva for in-person language lessons, online learning may be a good alternative. With online learning, you can save on travel expenses and have access to top teachers from around the world.
Many students who try online language lessons with a teacher are pleasantly surprised by the experience. At LanguaTalk, lessons are 1-on-1 to ensure you get your teacher's full attention and can make rapid progress. Lessons are conducted via video call, allowing you to communicate with your teacher and share learning materials, as if you were in the same room. Try a free trial session and see for yourself!
On LanguaTalk, you can watch French teacher intro videos, check their availability, and read reviews from their students on their profiles. You'll also see which learning needs, ages, and levels the teacher is comfortable with.
If you're new to LanguaTalk, you'll receive a token for a complimentary 30-minute trial lesson when you create an account. Use this to evaluate your chosen teacher and decide whether you want to keep taking classes with them or look for a French teacher in Geneva instead. (Please note: not all teachers offer a free trial lesson - some charge 30% of their standard full lesson price.)

Together we can improve your conversation, reading and listening skills in formal and informal French, prepare your exams or a job interview, learning the daily vocabulary you may need while travelling or moving to France, be able to comunicate with your boyfriend/husband's family, etc... If you wish, I will also send you some exercises, podcasts and other things to do between classes.

Hi ! I am Charlotte !
I am a native french speaker and a graduated French teacher !
If you want to learn french or to improve your french skills, you are in the right place 😉
What I teach 📚:
How I teach 👩🏫:
Usually, during the first lesson, we will talk about yourself, what you want to learn in French and why. This way I can understand your goals and adapt my teaching.
I like to create lessons around a theme, this way I can gather different activities around it. For example, we can start with a few questions about the theme, then gather vocabulary and read a text or watch a video about it. Afterward you can have a few questions to answer about the doct but we can also discuss about it, this way we will work on your comprehension of French language and on your oral expression. I also like to implement speaking games during the lesson so you can reemploy what you have learnt during the session.
Resources 📝:
I usually use Google Docs and/or Powerpoint for my lessons, according to what I am going to teach (for example if I need to share a digital media with you, I will put it on your personal Google Doct).
Qualifications 💼:
I graduated my FLE master's degree, I also have a BA degree in French language and literature and a BA degree in English language, literature, foreign and regional civilisation.

UPDATE 20/21: The students I have tutored for the DELF and DALF exams have all successfully passed the exams; KS3: A / A+; GCSE: A+
Bonjour, my name is Marion, I am 31 years old and I am French.
Being a native French speaker and fluent in English, passionate about languages and having been down the path of learning a new language myself, I understand the struggles that a new language learner might have and I know how to be successful, whatever level you decide you want to achieve.
All the lessons are ONLINE, through Zoom or Skype and will last 55mn (or 25mn for half an hour). I use various various contents such as: workbooks, audio documents, videos and I am trying to keep up to date with the constant flow of new learning material to give you the best experience. My aim is to make learning French as fun as possible, while matching your needs and reaching your goals. After each lesson, I would send you an email with a recap of what had been covered (+ materials), what you can do at home to practise - only if you want - and what we would cover on the next lesson so you know exactly where you are at.
My background: After obtaining my Baccalauréat in Economic and Social Sciences, I studied 5 years to become an osteopath in France. In 2016 I left my home country to spend one year working and traveling in New-Zealand. I spent another two years in Australia and in 2019 I decided to move to the UK.

About me
I graduated in French Literature, Philosophy and History (Université Paris 10), and I hold a M. Sc. in Global Change Management (HNE Eberswalde).
Before I moved to São Paulo, Brazil, I lived five years in Berlin where I started to teach. There I tutored privately and also gave literacy classes in German for young refugees. From May 2017 to September 2017, I did training to be a French teacher and I taught French at the Technical University of Berlin for three semesters.
At the moment, I work with several language schools in São Paulo (IFESP, Versátil Idiomas, and the French Alliance). I have experience with teaching to all levels and ages. I also have experience in creating didactic material.
In parallel to my teaching activities, I also have a solid experience with translation work (English, German, Portuguese > French).
My methodology
My methodology adapts to fit your desires, needs, and interests.
Depending on your objective with the French language (pass a test, work, travel, personal curiosity, etc.), I offer a customised learning path with lively and playful lessons.
During the last four years, I have gathered a large online collection of methods and teaching materials allowing me to build a learning path that is adapted for you. I can provide these free of charge.

I wasn’t always a French tutor. I have been working with and for various companies for over 15 years.
I am passionate about languages since my youngest years. During my long stays abroad, I used to teach my roommates and friends. A few years ago, I decided to teach my native language in a more formal way. I started on a volunteering basis, teaching French to migrants.
After a while, I felt the need to improve my mastery of French teaching. That’s the reason why I decided to get a certification with the Cavilam Alliance Française of Vichy. There, I was trained according to the action-oriented approach recommended by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
As a certified teacher, I am able to provide you with customised, dynamic, playful lessons based on your individual needs. My goal is also to help you to learn how to learn with pleasure! Whatever your level or goals are, we will build up, together, the best learning plan for yourself.
A bientôt !

Hi, I'm Amandine, a native French from the beautiful region of Bordeaux and a language coach here for adults and teenagers.
My main focus in creating classes for you is to understand your learning process to help you be autonomous as soon as possible. AND to make it FUN and ENJOYABLE!
I have helped people of ALL LEVELS and dozens of nationalities. I have prepared people for their DELF / DALF / TEF / TEFAQ. I have coached people for job interviews in French, university students needing help with essays and presentations... You name it!
So whatever your profile is, we will tailor the class to YOUR needs and goals. The method used will therefore depend on YOU. The tools we can/will use are:
- conversation (where we will work together on different linguistic points while discussing and exchanging on our respective cultures);
- activities focused on listening comprehension (using videos, songs, podcasts, etc.);
- reading, written comprehension and pronunciation exercises (with articles, texts, song lyrics, etc.);
- grammar lessons and exercises;
- written production...
But as I said, the number 1 condition for learning a language is to gain the necessary self-confidence, to be relaxed and open in order to find the courage to express yourself. The goal is simply to COMMUNICATE!
Get onboard your French journey with me!
See you soon!

Let's set your goal and start a work plan! There are many reasons to learn French, such as:
I can help with all of the above, and more.
It is always a pleasure to be able to have a fluent conversation (or a heated debate) with students who sometimes started as total beginners and to see them acing their exams.
As for the method, I use trusted manuals and activity books because I believe in structure, but also material that suits your interests and tastes - from literature to popular songs, news to scientific articles, series, and movies (subtitled or not), online resources and grammar exercises. Resources are shared on a Slack group where lessons are summarized, and tasks listed. I can also tailor-make lessons for a specific objective like a job interview or a power point presentation.
Teaching French has been my main activity for several years both privately and at the Alliance Française. I am outgoing and chatty, but homework is not optional (at least if you want to improve fast!).
Do not hesitate to book a trial session.
See you soon!

Hello!
I am Chantal, a native French speaker. I also speak English fluently, and I have some knowledge of Spanish. I have been a Certified Secondary School Teacher for 20+ years, and I am still just as passionate about teaching!
Together, we will practice the four skills of language learning: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. For having learned two languages myself, I understand how intimidating language classes can sometimes be. That’s why I craft your lessons according to your level, and personal needs.
I provide the material and tools you need, and I am opened to any suggestions in terms of material or topics. I use pictures, videos, songs, articles, and more to make the lessons varied and enriching.
On a more personal note, I love reading, traveling and discovering new cultures, craft booking, collecting vintage postcards… among many other things. My motto is: "Be kind".
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me better. I look forward to seeing you in class.
See Reviews From StudentsIf you're new to LanguaTalk, we'll provide you with a credit for a free trial session. Many, but not all, teachers offer these for free. If a tutor does not offer a free trial, the trial price will be 30 percent of their full lesson price, allowing you to still try a session at a reduced cost.
Trial sessions last 30 minutes. They allow you to determine if the teacher is a good fit for you and get a sense of what online learning is like. The teacher will assess your level and try to understand your needs and interests so that they can tailor any classes you choose to take. You'll be encouraged to speak as much as possible in French, but you can also speak in English if needed.
If, after your trial session, you don't feel that the teacher is right for you, you can book a trial with another teacher for 30 percent of their full lesson price.
Lessons are taught one-on-one to ensure that you receive customized instruction. During the classes, your tutor will use a variety of teaching methods and resources, including language exercises, conversation practice, and cultural notes, to help you reach your learning objectives.
All classes take place via video call. Your tutor will normally give you a choice of calling tools, all of which are easy to use.
Most students take 55-minute classes. However, some tutors also offer the option of 30-minute classes. If this option is available, it will be noted on the tutor's profile (below their pricing and above the 'Buy Lessons' button).
In general, 55-minute classes are recommended for most students. 30-minute classes may be suitable if you're taking lessons for your child or if you have an intermediate level and only want conversation practice.
LanguaTalk offers personalized 1-on-1 French classes with top-rated tutors. Here's how to get started:

Tutor prices vary, and you can use the filter to find one that fits your budget. You can pay for individual lessons or purchase a package for a discount (view a tutor's pricing options on their profile).
We're confident you'll enjoy learning on LanguaTalk. Our platform is trusted by students worldwide because of our transparency. We ask students to rate each lesson, and we display these ratings on tutor profiles.
99.8% of lesson ratings are 5 stars. This is because we only accept the top 10% of tutor applications, unlike other platforms.

One of the benefits of online classes is that you can learn anytime, anywhere. When you choose a teacher, simply check their calendar to ensure that they have times that fit your schedule. Some teachers may have limited availability due to high demand.
Our research suggests that the average hourly rate for private French classes for adults in Geneva is between $25-$35. Since online teachers don't have to travel to you and often live in countries with a lower cost of living, their hourly rate tends to be significantly lower.
Some tutors on LanguaTalk may also provide in-person classes for adults in Geneva, but most only offer online classes for adults as it is more convenient and allows them to work from home. Additionally, most tutors are not located in Geneva because they are living elsewhere in the world. If you book a lesson with a tutor, you should assume that the lesson will be conducted online.
Some students might be unsure about learning French online because they think it will be very different from in-person learning. However, many students find that the online experience is similar and they often develop strong relationships with their teacher.
Once you start a video call with your selected teacher, you'll be able to communicate with them as if you were in the same room. The teacher may also share learning resources with you (such as newspaper articles or YouTube videos) and you'll be able to collaborate in real-time using tools like Google Docs or Dropbox Paper.
If you prefer in-person classes for adults over online learning, LanguaTalk may not be the best fit for you. Instead, you can search for a teacher on a local service listing website or place an advertisement in your area. However, we do encourage you to try online learning – you have nothing to lose by booking a free trial session. Many students find that the online experience is just as good as in-person learning, with the added benefit of access to higher quality teachers at a lower cost.
