Hi, I'm Lucie and I would be glad to help you learn French!
I've been teaching French for some years now and I'm myself passionate about languages. As a matter of fact I speak six languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, a little bit of Dutch and Italian). I know how hard and challenging it can be to learn a new language, and I strongly believe that practice is key to improve and learn a new language. So, be ready to speak with me! Of course, we will go through grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, and I'll structure my lessons according to your needs (without forgetting the practice). I also believe that learning should be fun because when you're having fun, things get easier and you will feel more confident.
So, ready to learn?
For me, learning is practicing, doing, imitating, and acting.
Speaking with a native French speaker is the easier way to get comfortable with the slang, intonation, and mannerisms.
I'm here to give you an awesome pronunciation, a fluid spoken, giving you more vocabulary and I’ll be really focusing on how to make you be more fluent and comfortable to speak this beautiful language.
My name is Léah, I am 24 years old and I am a French native, born and raised in the South of France, in Toulouse.
I also speak Spanish, English, and Portuguese and I've been teaching French for 3 years now.
So if you are ready to learn while having fun, send me a message, and let’s start!:)
My name is Gaelle, I'm French and I've been teaching French as a foreign language for 5 years. I trained with Alliance Française and worked for them in Malaysia.
I work with textbooks for students in A1, A2, B1 and B2 levels (basic and intermediate levels). I also work with C1 students (advanced) but with newspapers and online content. I can also help you with your French certifications like DELF.
Let's set your goal and start a work plan! There are many reasons to learn French, such as:
I can help with all of the above, and more.
It is always a pleasure to be able to have a fluent conversation (or a heated debate) with students who sometimes started as total beginners and to see them acing their exams.
As for the method, I use trusted manuals and activity books because I believe in structure, but also material that suits your interests and tastes - from literature to popular songs, news to scientific articles, series, and movies (subtitled or not), online resources and grammar exercises. Resources are shared on a Slack group where lessons are summarized, and tasks listed. I can also tailor-make lessons for a specific objective like a job interview or a power point presentation.
Teaching French has been my main activity for several years both privately and at the Alliance Française. I am outgoing and chatty, but homework is not optional (at least if you want to improve fast!).
Do not hesitate to book a trial session.
See you soon!

My name is Sonia, I'm 28 and I was born and raised in France.
I currently live in Cambodia.
I've always be passionate about learning new languages so last year I decided to quit my job and become a French tutor online.
I travelled a lot during these past few years in South East Asia and thanks to that I had the great opportunity to teach French and English to several student by private lessons or as a volunteer in schools.
My learning method is very simple, grammar and conjugation books are very useful but I truly believe that in order to improve our skills in a new language, nothing is better than to speak and listen to it as much as possible.
That is why a lesson with me will mainly be about something that you want to talk about, like a passion or a hobby.
I know what it is to learn a new language, so I'll do my best to make our moments together enjoyable, and valuable for you.
Hello, how are you? comment ça va?
Let's refresh your French knowledge!
My name is Geoffrey, I'm 25 and I'm a native French speaker.
I studied Philosophy and letters at uni. I also studied Germanic languages such as English or Dutch for more than eight years and I now live in the UK. I'm currently working in aviation where I'm constantly in touch with other cultures. I've also been tutoring for some time now and I saw my student's level increasing really quickly in a short portion of time.
I'll be glad to help everyone on every level of the language. Especially those of you who are still learning, studying the language, or just looking for a little bit more confidence at work.
What I would like to aim for is to help you improve your French to the best that I can, break the language barrier, and achieve your goals. I invite you to watch my video to learn more about how I would help you to do so. Come and book your first lesson with me! I can't wait to get in touch with you!
See you soon! À bientôt! 😊
I graduated in French Literature, Philosophy and History (Université Paris 10), and I hold a M. Sc. in Global Change Management (HNE Eberswalde).
Before I moved to São Paulo, Brazil, I lived five years in Berlin where I started to teach. There I tutored privately and also gave literacy classes in German for young refugees. From May 2017 to September 2017, I did training to be a French teacher and I taught French at the Technical University of Berlin for three semesters.
At the moment, I work with several language schools in São Paulo (IFESP, Versátil Idiomas, and the French Alliance). I have experience with teaching to all levels and ages. I also have experience in creating didactic material.
In parallel to my teaching activities, I also have a solid experience with translation work (English, German, Portuguese > French).
My methodology adapts to fit your desires, needs, and interests.
Depending on your objective with the French language (pass a test, work, travel, personal curiosity, etc.), I offer a customised learning path with lively and playful lessons.
During the last four years, I have gathered a large online collection of methods and teaching materials allowing me to build a learning path that is adapted for you. I can provide these free of charge.
Hello and bonjour. My name is Emil and I am a French native from Paris.
I specialize in conversation lessons in French but can also offer them in the English language.
My experience as a language teacher goes back to 2015/2016 when I was teaching French and English in a language school but also in offices and at my home. I am passionate about teaching, sharing and spreading knowledge with others.
My lessons are friendly, professional and with a touch of humour where mistakes are not an issue as they are a part of learning any language. I am open minded and curious to hear about your interests and passions as that will make the lesson even more fun and enjoyable for both of us. Otherwise I have some relevant topics we can discuss.
I am very flexible so any suggestions you may have are welcome and remember I am here to help so don't be shy to ask any questions you may have anytime during the lesson. I love my language and I hope with our lessons you will love it too.
I look forward to hear what you have to say. Talk to you soon ! À bientôt !

1-on-1 lessons are perhaps the best way to improve speaking skills, and because of this many students use LanguaTalk to learn to speak French fluently. That said, some students have other, more specific goals. Tell your tutor what your goals are and they'll tailor the lessons to your needs. Most tutors can help with any of the following:
New to LanguaTalk? You'll have one credit for a free trial. Many, but not all, tutors offer trials for free. If they do not, the price will be just 30 percent of their full lesson price, so you can still try a session at minimal cost.
Trial sessions are 30 minutes and are taught via video call (Skype or Zoom). They allow you to assess whether the tutor is a good fit for you, and get a feel for learning online. The tutor will assess your level and aim to understand your needs and interests so that they can customise any lessons you decide to take. You'll be encouraged to speak in French as much as possible, but of course you can speak in English too!
If, after your trial session, you don't feel that the tutor is quite right for you, you can book a trial with another tutor for just 30 percent of their full lesson price.
Most of the French tutors on our site are able to teach students of all levels. When you click on a tutor's profile you'll see if certain levels are not supported. For example, certain tutors cannot teach complete beginners.
Likewise, you can also see on the tutor's profile whether they're suitable for all ages. Online French lessons are sometimes taken to support school/college studies. Usually, the tutor will be able to customise the lessons to follow the material and topics covered in the student's exams. Please note that as per our Terms & Conditions, students who are under 18 must get permission from a legal guardian before booking.
Lessons are taught 1-on-1 so that you receive your tutor’s full attention and can progress quickly. Each lesson is 55 minutes long and is taught via video call, allowing you to communicate with your tutor and share learning materials as if you were in the same room.
The tutors vary in terms of their teaching methods, resources, experiences, and personalities. So we suggest you look at several profiles to choose the best tutor for you. Whichever French tutor you pick, they'll aim to tailor the lessons to your individual needs.
We want students to have an exceptional learning experience on LanguaTalk, so we only accept the very best tutor applications. Though we consider qualifications and experience, we place equal value on communication skills, personality and reviews from previous students. Almost all tutors are native speakers of the language they teach, and we require that they can speak English too.
Each tutor is different - they have different backgrounds, strengths, teaching methods and personalities. So we suggest you browse several profiles to find the right French tutor for you.
The beauty of taking French lessons online is that you can learn anytime, anywhere. When you choose a tutor, just check their calendar to make sure that they have available times that fit your schedule. Some French tutors have limited availability due to teaching a lot of students.
Our booking system is designed to be incredibly easy to use. You can see tutors' available hours in your local time zone. If you choose to book lessons with a tutor, you'll be able to purchase them one at a time, or buy in bulk with a volume discount. You can pay securely by card on our website.
You can manually add bookings to your personal calendar, or if you use Google calendar, you can add bookings automatically with our syncing feature. You'll also be able to receive email reminders to help ensure you don't forget to turn up.
You can reschedule or cancel lessons in a couple of clicks. Note that this can only be done up to 24 hours before the lesson time. This rule is required to protect tutors, who lose income when lessons are cancelled at the last minute.
Sometimes students feel uncertain about learning French online because they think it’ll be totally different to learning face-to-face. But usually when they try it, they find that the experience is almost the same and they often build a strong relationship with their tutor.
Once you start a video call with your chosen French tutor online, you’ll be able to communicate with them as if you were in the same room. They’ll usually also share learning resources with you (using Google Docs, YouTube etc.) and you’ll be able to collaborate in real-time.
According to the Foreign Service Institute, if you already speak English, French is one of the easiest languages to learn. The exact amount of time it will take you to become fluent will depend on many factors, such as your current level, your knowledge of similar languages, your capacity to learn, how you study, and how intensively you study. Some will be able to go from beginner to conversational fluency within a couple of months through intensive study. Others will take longer. Combining 1-on-1 lessons with an online French tutor with regular self-study is an effective way to learn French fast.
If you live in the US or Europe, face-to-face French lessons may cost anywhere between $15 and $40 (USD) per hour. Online tutoring tends to be cheaper than face-to-face because the tutor doesn't need to travel to you. An online French tutor could cost anywhere from $7 to $30 per hour, but be aware that very cheap tutors may lack experience. On LanguaTalk, French tutors typically charge between $10 and $25 per hour.
Of course, learning 1-on-1 with an experienced French tutor is not the cheapest way to learn; you could learn via a free app instead. But if you're serious about learning, nothing beats 1-on-1 French lessons with a great teacher.
There is no 'best way' to learn a language - it depends on your needs, level and budget. If you can't afford to take lessons, you can use a free app such as Duolingo to build your vocabulary. And to improve your listening skills, you can watch TV and listen to podcasts in French. But to learn how to actually speak a language, you need to talk to a native speaker on a regular basis and receive accurate feedback so that you improve. If you want to make fast progress, it's best to take 1-on-1 lessons that are tailored to your needs by an experienced online French teacher.
