Hello lovely people! Are you ready to learn Greek? DefinItely something more than the usual KALIMERA, KALISPERA, MOUSSAKA? Book a trial lesson with me and see where it leads you.
My very greek name is Stavroula! I graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. I have a degree in History. History and languages were my favourite subjects at school and I consider myself lucky to be able to do something I love, that is to help people learn the greek language. I grew up in Athens but life brought me to the Eternal City. In my case, the famous expression that all roads lead to Rome, was true! I've been teaching english and modern greek to italians for the last 8 to 10 years,
As a person who likes to speak concisely, much like the ancient greek saying : " Το λακωνίζειν εστί φιλοσοφείν" which roughly translates to; brevity is the soul of wit, I'll not keep you any longer.
If you have decided to learn Greek, rest assured that I'll do my very best to help and it will be my pleasure! Speaking Greek and English is one of my favourite things, let's have fun together.

Hello! My name is Erofili and I teach modern Greek.
Ι’m a native speaker and I have more than ten years of teaching experience. I teach children, teenagers and adults.
I have a Bachelor’s in English Language and a post-graduate degree in teaching methodology.
I’m fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese and speak a little bit of Italian.
I have travelled extensively, lived and taught in Italy and Spain so I’m quite familiar with different cultures and learning styles.
When I teach a lesson I take into consideration two factors: Students’ needs and their interests.
At the end of the class I want my students to have improved in their learning, to have enjoyed the class, to feel confident about themselves and motivated to continue learning.
Whether I teach a four year old child or an adult, whether my students want to learn Greek just for fun, to travel or to take an exam, I always tailor the lesson to their needs and give the best of myself.
I provide my students with extra photocopiable material and notes that I prepare just for them. I use photocopies, flashcards, games, real life material (articles, songs, videos e.t.c.) and send them internet links that can enhance their learning. I also give them extra homework in case they want to study the language by themselves and correct it offline.
I like being creative, innovative and using communicative, student-oriented methods.
If you have any question, please don't hesitate to contact me or book a free trial lesson so we can discuss your needs and learning objectives.

My name is Thanasis and Greek is my native language. I was born and raised in Greece and I graduated from the University of Athens. I have also lived and studied abroad in both Europe and Asia. I have a Master’s degree in Linguistics. I have been teaching professionally at schools and freelance since 2016. I teach adults students of all levels.
Language is not just my job but my passion, and I feel that teaching languages is what I was born to do. I am a language enthusiast and have studied several languages myself; in fact I am currently studying Hindi so I know first hand the difficulties one faces when studying a foreign language. To make things easier I try to make sure my classes are well planned and effective but also fun. I try to use a mixed method of teaching with the use of a textbook but also podcasts, short movies and audio tracks among others. From my experience most students are mostly interested in speaking so I make sure that at least half of the lesson is dedicated to that. We practice speaking through free conversation, role plays, describing pictures and other types of drills.
If you book a lesson with me, I will assess your current level and try to make sure I plan lessons customized to match your needs and requests.

About me- I study at an American college in my hometown and I have been speaking English for about 14 years. I am bilingual as I am half Greek and half Serbian but English was always the language I felt most comfortable with. I am into sports, music, and politics. I have been told I have an opinion about everything so we will definitely make some good conversation(in Greek of course lol).

Γεια! I'm Georgia, and I have been a full-time Greek tutor for the past 4 years.
To help you determine if I am the right tutor for you, I have answered a few things you might want to know about me:
What levels do you teach? Do you have a specialization?
I teach all levels, but I could say that I specialize in beginners since I have the most experience with students who start from scratch.
What can you teach me?
I can teach you everything that you need to know in order to achieve your individual goals:
Do you have a specific teaching style?
My teaching approach depends on my students' level and needs, but generally, I believe that learning through conversation and examples while having some fun in the process is the best way not only to learn a new language but also to love the language!
What kind of resources do you use?
I have many textbooks that target different needs (listening, grammar, etc.), and I have also created my own notes and exercises that I believe will help you understand Greek a bit better. With more advanced students, I also work with Greek songs, videos, TV shows, stand-up comedy bits, and even memes and jokes in Greek!
What should I expect from my trial lesson with you?
We will talk about your level in Greek, your experience with the language, and your future goals regarding the language. Together, we will create a plan according to your needs.
Is there anything else I should know before my lesson?
Yes! What is very important to me is that you feel relaxed during the lessons. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions and trying to speak. Remember that I'm here to help you in any way I can! Just be yourself, and don't be afraid to make lots of mistakes!
Alright, I think you're the right tutor for me!
Yaaay! Let's have some fun! I hope to see you soon!

1-on-1 lessons are perhaps the best way to improve speaking skills, and because of this many students use LanguaTalk to learn to speak Greek fluently. That said, some people have other, more specific goals. Let your tutor know what your goals are and they'll tailor the lessons to your personal needs. Most tutors can help with any of the following:
Most of the Greek tutors on our site are able to teach students of all levels. When you click on a tutor's profile you'll see if certain levels are not supported. For example, certain tutors cannot teach complete beginners.
Likewise, you can also see on the tutor's profile whether they're suitable for all ages. Lessons are sometimes taken via LanguaTalk to support school/college studies. Usually, the tutor will be able to customise the lessons to follow the material and topics covered in the student's exams. Note that as per our Terms & Conditions, students who are under 18 must get permission from a legal guardian before booking.
New to LanguaTalk? You'll have one credit for a free trial. Most tutors offer a trial for free. If they do not, they’ll offer a trial session at a discount compared to their usual hourly rate.
Trial sessions are 30 minutes. They allow you to assess whether the tutor is a good fit for you, and get a feel for learning online. The tutor will assess your level and aim to understand your needs and interests so that they can customise any lessons you decide to take. You'll be encouraged to speak in Greek as much as possible, but of course you can speak in English too! Book a trial today to see if taking Greek lessons on Zoom/Skype works well for you.
After your session, if you feel that the tutor isn’t quite right for you, you can simply book a trial with someone else.
Lessons are taught 1-on-1 so that you receive your tutor’s full attention and can make fast progress. Communicating via video call, you’ll be able to talk to your tutor and share learning materials as if you were in the same room.
The tutors vary in terms of their teaching methods, resources, experience, and personalities. So we suggest you look at several profiles to choose the best tutor for you. Whichever tutor you pick, they'll aim to tailor the lessons to your individual needs.
The vast majority of students take 55-minute lessons. But some tutors also provide the option of 30-minute lessons. If they do, you’ll see this noted on their profile (below their pricing and above the ‘Buy Lessons’ button).
55-minute lessons are recommended for most students. In general, we only suggest considering 30-minute lessons if they’re for your child, or you have an intermediate level and only want conversation practice.
The beauty of taking lessons online is that you can learn anytime, anywhere. To see tutors who are likely to fit your weekly schedule, use the availability filter at the top. Then when you see a tutor you like, check their profile calendar to make sure their time slots work for you. Some tutors have limited availability as they already have lots of students.
We want students to have an exceptional learning experience on LanguaTalk, so we only accept the very best tutor applications. Though we consider qualifications and experience, we place equal value on communication skills, personality and reviews from previous students. Almost all of the tutors are native speakers of the language they teach, and they can speak English too.
Each tutor is unique - they have different backgrounds, strengths, teaching methods and personalities. So we suggest you browse several profiles to find the right tutor for you.
Our booking system is designed to be easy to use. You can see tutors' available slots in your local time zone. If you choose to book lessons with a tutor, you'll be able to buy them one at a time, or purchase in bulk with a volume discount. You can pay securely by card on our website.
You can manually add bookings to your personal calendar, or if you use Google calendar, you can add bookings automatically with our syncing feature. You'll also be able to receive email reminders to help ensure you don't forget to turn up.
You can reschedule or cancel lessons in a couple of clicks. Please note that this can be done up to 24 hours before the lesson time. We have this policy to be fair to tutors, who cannot replace lessons at the last minute and need some form of income protection.
Greek lessons via Zoom/Skype tend to be cheaper than face-to-face because the tutor doesn't need to travel. Online Greek tutors may cost between $7 to $30 per hour, but be aware that very cheap tutors on certain websites may lack experience. On LanguaTalk, Greek tutors typically charge between $10 and $25 per hour.
Of course, receiving Greek tutoring via Zoom or Skype is not the cheapest way to learn; you could learn via a free app instead. But if you're serious about learning, nothing beats 1-on-1 Greek lessons with a great teacher.
Most tutors offer both Skype and Zoom as options for the lessons. If they only offer one of these, this will be stated on their profile. Both tools are free, easy to use and perfect for language learning. They allow you to do everything you would do in a physical classroom: speak, listen, read, write, and share learning materials. Your tutor will typically write corrections directly in the chat area so that you can later revise everything you’ve learnt.
Most Greek tutors using Skype/Zoom also use other technologies and resources to enhance the learning experience, for example Google Docs (for real-time collaboration), videos, and PowerPoint slides. If you're unable to take the Greek lessons via Zoom or Skype, please contact our support team and we’ll get in touch with the tutor you're interested in to see if they're able to use an alternative video technology, such as Google Meet.
Students sometimes feel unsure about learning online because they think it won't be as effective as learning face-to-face. But usually when they try it, they find that the experience is almost the same and they often build a strong relationship with their tutor.
Once you start a video call with your chosen Greek tutor on Zoom/Skype, you’ll be able to communicate with them as if you were in the same room. They’ll usually also share learning resources with you (using Google Docs, YouTube etc.) and you’ll be able to collaborate in real-time.
There is no 'best way' to learn a language - it depends on many factors, such as your needs, level and budget. If you can't afford to take 1-on-1 Greek lessons on Zoom/Skype, you can use a free app like Duolingo to build your vocab. And to improve your listening skills, you can try watching TV and listening to podcasts in Greek. But to learn how to actually speak a language, you need to talk to a native speaker on a regular basis and receive accurate feedback so that you improve. If you want to make fast progress, it's best to take private lessons that are tailored to your personal needs by an experienced teacher.
