What started as a volunteering project in a French high school became my profession when I started working as an English teacher in a language school in Hungary. I held business English and everyday English courses for all levels, mostly teaching small groups of adults. Apart from that, I also held private Hungarian and French lessons through the school. Currently I am living in Italy, and apart from working for a local language school, I keep teaching online because I travel a lot, and working remotely allows me to keep doing what I love, from anywhere in the world.

I have a Master's degree in Teaching English and a level 5 TEFL certification. I have been teaching for more than five years now, from Hungarian to French to Italian schools, as well as having students from many other nationalities through online teaching.

When you become my student I will ask about your goals, assess your level, and recommend a course book based on your level and needs. In case you would only like to practice communication or wouldn't like to learn from a book, we can also simply talk and occassionally use some worksheets to make the lessons more varied and enjoyable. All my lessons are generally very communicative – I try to stay in the background and correct you when necessary, and guide you through the exercises instead of giving you the answers. From experience I know that real learning happens when you figure things out for yourself, and not when you are passively listening for your teacher's explanations.:)

I’m Diana, a friendly and patient English teacher from the beautiful city of Cape Town currently living in Portugal. In 2017, I completed my TESOL and TEYLT trainings and since then I have worked with students from all around the world both in language schools and online. I have lived and taught English in 5 different countries (Spain, Portugal, Indonesia, Turkey and South Africa) to students of all levels (beginners to advanced). Those who need to take a real-life IELTS SPEAKING test in a hurry. All aspects of the IELTS Speaking test are covered, just like the real test, with ideas and useful expressions to use in all parts of the test, and how to approach the IELTS examiner’s questions. 

Real life conversation → often looks very different to dialogues in coursebooks. I specialize in teaching adults, especially WHITE-COLLAR EMPLOYEES, to ‘Speak English better, or more fluently,’ You need to keep up a conversation on a wide range of general and business topics, expressing opinions and presenting arguments. Hi, I'm Cara. I'm originally from the UK, have lived in France for 16 years and I've been teaching English for around 10 years. I help new arrivals in English-speaking countries understand and chat to fast-talking native speakers by improving their listening skills with movies. 

Improving your listening skills helps you not only understand people, but also makes you sound more natural in English. That's because when you understand what people are saying to you, you can pick up expressions that native speakers really use so that you can fit in with them. 

My special listening skills method will also help you watch movies and TV series without the subtitles. 

Here's how my lessons work (my classes are 30 minutes long with pre-class tasks to complete): 

• Before the lesson, I send you links to movie clips plus listening and writing tasks to improve your listening skills.
• You listen to the clips, do the tasks, and write your answers in a Google doc that I share with you. That way I can see your answers.
• During a 30-minute class, we go over your answers together and I help you understand words and expressions from the clip you didn't catch.
• You learn new vocabulary, improve your listening skills and work on your pronunciation. We'll also have some general discussion about the clip.
