We find and support the very best teachers who provide 1-on-1 lessons that are personalised to the individual needs of students. We believe that online French lessons delivered in this way are the most effective way to become fluent in French quickly.
I wasn’t always a French tutor. I have been working with and for various companies for over 15 years.
I am passionate about languages since my youngest years. During my long stays abroad, I used to teach my roommates and friends. A few years ago, I decided to teach my native language in a more formal way. I started on a volunteering basis, teaching French to migrants.
After a while, I felt the need to improve my mastery of French teaching. That’s the reason why I decided to get a certification with the Cavilam Alliance Française of Vichy. There, I was trained according to the action-oriented approach recommended by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
As a certified teacher, I am able to provide you with customised, dynamic, playful lessons based on your individual needs. My goal is also to help you to learn how to learn with pleasure! Whatever your level or goals are, we will build up, together, the best learning plan for yourself.
A bientôt !
My name is Florence. I come from France and I am an experienced French teacher for foreigners, certified by the Alliance Française de Paris and hold a Master’s degree in FLE (french for foreigners) to teach you my mother tongue. I have experience teaching a wide range of adults from all continents and at all levels.
But also ... before starting to teach French full-time and because of a double technical and commercial training, I worked for a long time in marketing and international trade for companies in various sectors of activities: electrical construction, car accessories, shoes… I also created my own business to distribute my creations of costume jewelry.
I’m originally from the East of France, a small town near the Swiss border, and I've been around a lot! I have lived in different regions of France: from North to South, from East to West, from Paris to Nice, from Lyon to Albi. After living in Valparaiso, Chile, I returned to Europe and then settled in Spain for almost 15 years. Today, I live in Alicante with my family.
I hope to meet you very soon and share very pleasant sessions with you. Please note that I made the choice to teach online only to ADULTS.
See you soon !
Bonjour, Hello, Hola!
I'm Lola from France and I'm an experienced french teacher with more than 2000 hours of lessons.
I've started doing this online full time job 2 years ago when I decided to leave France and to go overseas to start a new life. So here I am, traveling around and living in different countries while teaching french to lovely students.
I would say that my biggest assets are that I'm a serious, committed and a dedicated teacher who really wants her students to progress and be happy with themselves.
One thing that I love above all : seeing my students getting more and more confidents and, as a consequence, getting better everyday.
I invite you to watch my video presentation for more details and don't hesitate to book a free trial session with me, we can discuss all the details and doubts you have about this great experience : learning a new language !
A few years ago, when I was in bed at night and almost ready to sleep, I used to ask myself this question : "Why would people want to learn French? Are they crazy?"
Well... Are you?
It definitely takes guts for someone to take the obscure path of French learning, especially when you know that almost no francophone can speak French perfectly. And it is this courageous desire detected in French learners that made me want to start teaching this language three years ago. In fact, besides the syntactic complexity of this language (which, by the way, is most likely to be a cliché), French is a very poetic language, as it allows countless accesses to figurative speeches (so if you tend to be a little sarcastic at times, this might be perfect for you). Plus, French is cool and sounds fancy too, so... 😗
Whether you plan to
I would be very happy to help you achieve your goals and share my knowledge and advices with you as best I can. Please do book a 30 minute trial session with me to discuss your needs!
About me : My name is Clarysse. I am 22 years old, I've been teaching Latin and French for the past two years and I am very passionate about everything I do. If I had to describe myself in three words as a tutor, I would say funny, methodical and adaptable.
With many years of teaching experience, I know that the key of success for learning a language is the quality of the relationship between the student and the tutor. My duty is to understand the way you learn and adapt my teaching to your skills....regular work and motivation are the other elements ;-)
About me :
I am from the south-west of France.. I really like my native language and I am deeply interested in the history of France, its literature, culture, cuisine...and I am also very international as I lived abroad many years, and enjoyed it so much ! I have traveled a lot, met a lot of people and learned different languages such as English, Spanish & Bulgarian...so I've been a learner all my life. I understand the learning mechanisms.
I've also helped a lot of people in their study of French : homework, conversations, pronunciation, French for business, pleasure, practical life, personal projects...thus, I teach different levels (beginners to advanced) and different abilities.
I will adapt to your level and your needs. We will choose the topics together. It could vary from very practical conversations to cultural topics : music, books, photography (my hobby), trips, cinema, sport, etc.. Sometimes, we will go through some vocabulary and grammar rules...your French will improve quickly !
The main idea is that you and I are having a great time together, having fun seeing your improvements lesson after lesson :-) Hope to meet you soon
Hi all! My name is Miriam, I speak four languages and I have been teaching French online for 3 years. My mother tongue is Arabic and I started learning French since I was 3 years old. I started learning English in elementary school and had Spanish classes for two years at university. I also speak Italian as I currently live in Italy.
I have acquired some experience in academic support and language teaching. I would be very happy to discuss with you what interests you to help you progress in your learning. I am also available to adapt to your preferences in terms of materials and learning tools. Hope to see you soon!
Bonjour, c'est Caroline.
Originally from Brittany in France. I am currently in Bali, living the dream ;=)
Through the years, teaching French became a real passion for me, and I think that I enjoy the progress of my students as much as they do !
Depending on your level, your needs and your expectations, I will build the lessons including more or less grammar and as soon as you feel ready for it, we will focus on conversation practice. Conversation is a good way to improve fast both your speaking and understanding skills while keeping the classes interactive and fun !
I love to talk about lots of different things and I will make sure that each lesson covers a different topic. Be assured that I won't forget to rectify your pronunciation if necessary.
Writing being a very important part of the learning process, we can practice that too. It's a very efficient way to see your weaknesses in grammar and vocabulary and to correct them.
I teach in a dynamic and engaging way and use conversation as one of my main tools, so you’ll get plenty of talking time. My teaching materials are constantly updated and I use lots of different tools such as videos, audios, texts and even crosswords if you like !
I wish you a happy day and hope to see you soon online for a trial class!
A bientôt !
Hi everyone, my name is Victorien, I’m 26 and come from Bordeaux, France.
I have a master degree in communication and my work career was basically oriented to music industry such as radio, blog, media, record label etc until Mr. COVID-19 showed up. I think that I’m quite open minded and for sure a talkative person ;)
I have been giving more than 400 hours classes since I started it one year ago.
I'm really open minded on the classes that I provide. I love to talk and I’m naturally interested in many things. So, conversation is one of my main tools in my classes, mainly because it is how I learned two foreigners’ languages.
I'm constantly learning new languages or working on the ones I know, consequently I know well how to naturally incorporate new knowledge. As a tutor and not a teacher my approach is actually more spontaneous. I like to create a friendly atmosphere along propers materials to study the language.
I am also use to prepare for French language exam such as DELF or DALF.
In every classes you will find 1/4 to 1/3 of conversation, some grammars and conjugation exercice, reading and audio comprehension and some vocabulary from the previous classes. I always try hard to propose pertinent and relevant contents for my students according to their hobbies, expectations and skills. As well as a diversity of material to avoid any routine in learning French. My main teaching method is to find appropriate contents for the student with different formats and to mix them to provide rich and attractive classes.
My name is Céline. Teaching languages online is my full time activity for the last 4 years, that ensures punctuality, professionalism and continuity.
I am a multifaceted teacher:
> I am casual and I put a particular importance on teaching real language, i.e. we will approach all kind of vocabulary in our classes using authentic material.
> I am business and corporate oriented as my previous professional experiences in retail and recruitment allows me to help you to build your CV and train you for job interviews.
> I am structured when it comes to grammar. I do use lessons and exercises.
> I have a solid academic background related to languages and experience preparing people to official language exams as DELF,TCF, etc.
These are some comments actual students posted on my LinkedIn profile:
Marc, Chief of Strategy and Corp. Development : “Céline is knowledgeable about grammar and languages formalities but also have a nice conversation and adapts well to your need as a student, making the class enjoyable and using technology in the right way."
Gozde, Data engineer : “Céline provides lots of learning material, documents, links, and videos. She is responsive and very well organized while it is fun to chat with her about real-world topics."
À bientôt !
Hello! Bonjour, I’m Alicia and I’m a French language teacher. I’m a native speaker and I also speak English. After a Bachelor’s Degree in English I moved in the UK and graduated with a PGCE in French. Then, I travelled in Canada where I was a French immersion teacher.
Since a year, I have started a new adventure: living and discovering Reunion Island, a French territory in the Indian Ocean. I have been teaching languages ( French as a foreign language, French as a first language and English as a foreign langue) since 5 years and I worked in different countries with different cultures and different teaching strategies which I experienced and learnt.
I am a passionate, flexible, patient, creative and responsive teacher. I am very much looking forward to sharing not only my language, but also passing on my cultural identity and demonstrate the numerous benefits of mastering a foreign language in today’s world using fun and original activities such as escape games, projects’ creation, personalized contents and authentic resources. I can’t wait to have fun and to learn with you.
Hello! My name is Laurent. I'm French, live near Paris and I work there as an engineer. I have always liked to learn languages. I can speak English, Portuguese, French Creole and obviously French. I know how difficult it is to learn a new language. For me, the best way to learn a language is to speak it, to be able to communicate with someone. Together we will practice conversation, reading, writing, listening and pronunciation with different kinds of supports. So if you want to start it, let's plan a lesson with me. Please refer to my schedule for availability.
My name is Louise, I live in Nantes (France) and I am a certified French teacher. After travelling around the world, I decided to become a French teacher so I could share my love for the French language and culture mix.
I have taught to very different students : complete beginners, advanced levels, chidren, teenagers, adults, both online and face-to-face...I have a Master degree in Teaching French.
My method :
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” [Benjamin Franklin]
I am convinced that we learn by doing. That's why my students are fully involved in their learning process and are always DOING (and RE-DOING). I am a very organised teacher and I do all I can so that you can progress in French and reach your goals. If you're looking to learn grammar rules by heart without even understanding them, I might not be the good fit for you ! 😉
I could sum up my method in 3 words : ADAPTATION - ORGANISATION - ACTION
Feel free to book a trial lesson with me to evaluate your level, define your needs and desires in order to build a lesson plan together. 😉
Bonjour ! My name is Stéphanie.
I am a very friendly and relaxed teacher and I will make you feel at ease with me (which is primeval when learning a new language). According to your level, needs and desires, I am using different media and resources. If you are beginners, I prefer using numerical methods responding to the progression of the Common European Framework of Reference. A language has to be spoken; that is why I often start and finish classes working on oral production while I am correcting you on a Google doc, not to be interrupting you.
I always remain available for my students on Whatsapp or by email, to answer any questions or doubts you may have. My availabilities are flexible so after the free trial lesson, we could agree on a personalized schedule.
On a more personal note, I have always shown a great interest for languages, new cultures and travelling. I used to be an air hostess, living in London, Barcelona and finally Dubai; this is when I decided to become a French Teacher, as I was starting giving lessons to a few of my friends and colleagues. So I passed my French Teaching Diploma certified by the Alliance française. I wanted to be able to work anywhere around the world. But here I am now, back to my hometown in Southwest of France, teaching French online and also proposing French immersion home stay with yoga and meditation classes, which are my main interests.
Please click on the link below to learn more about me and... I look forward to meeting you :-)
A bientôt !
My name is Gaelle, I'm French and I've been teaching French as a foreign language for 5 years. I trained with Alliance Française and worked for them in Malaysia.
I work with textbooks for students in A1, A2, B1 and B2 levels (basic and intermediate levels). I also work with C1 students (advanced) but with newspapers and online content. I can also help you with your French certifications like DELF.
Hello ! My name is Charlotte, from France. Learning languages is a passion of mine, along with many others :-) I welcome everyone to come and learn with me; whatever your current level, I’ll be very happy to help you gain more fluency in French. I’m very patient and will provide a cheerful and safe environment where you can talk without any stress or fear of being judged. I try to stick to French as much as possible during the lessons in order to build up your confidence about being able to navigate through your new language.
I believe in helping you master French as it is spoken/written by actual French-speaking people, not textbooks. This means adapting the material and language level to the situation. Indeed, we don’t usually speak in daily life the way a journalist does on the news. And we don’t write a formal report as we would an email to a friend. So knowing your goals and why you are learning French is essential.
A bientôt !
I've been teaching online since 2016, having in the previous 15 years worked with young people, adults and foreigners of all levels.
In my opinion, enthusiasm, patience, humour and understanding are the keys for efficient learning. I also like to have discussions, and give my students readings and writing exercises.
If you have an intermediate level, we can speak about any topic that interests you. My interests include ecology and self sufficiency, architecture, history, geopolitics, philosophy, Asian food, horses, and nature.
Hi! My name is Constance.
Currently, a 3rd-year University student in France studying English and German LEA (applied foreign language). I have been teaching French for 5 years online and offline and I am very familiar with the DELF A1-B2 examinations and the different school notebooks in Hong Kong and France. I also taught French casually in pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar.
My lessons usually start with a speaking exercise followed by comprehension in either oral or writing. I like to adapt the lessons according to the levels and the goals of my students. I can work with true beginners to B2 intermediate level. My main goal is for you to come out of my lessons feeling more confident in the language.
I speak English (C2), French (native,C2), German (A2), and Spanish (A2)
I am a French-speaking Quebecer girl and I have been teaching French as a foreign language for several years. I teach online in different language schools and virtual platforms. I offer dynamic and playful courses where conversation and fun are the order of the day!
My teaching methods are very varied and focused on practice and a participative approach. Whether it's for a trip, a move abroad, a professional project or for your own personal curiosity, I adapt to the level and needs of each learner. For people curious about Quebec French, I also offer sessions on it.
I am digital nomad and I travel the world. I'm passionate about the outdoors, social dancing, culture and of course linguistics! In addition to teaching, I work in social and international development, project management, social intervention, collaborative process facilitation, and responsible and solidarity tourism.
My availabilities are flexible and variable, so, if needed, after the trial lesson, we will be able to agree on a personalized schedule.
I look forward to meeting you!
Hi! I'm Méloée, I am 25 and I've been teaching French for 6 years. I lived for 7 years in Argentina and I live now in France, my home country, so I can teach you in French, English or Spanish.
I teach to all levels and ages. Conversation classes, to prepare a trip, an exam (except the DAEFLE), to learn from zero, to practice grammar... we'll see together what are your goals and preferences and I'll tailor my classes to you.
In my opinion, the quickest and best way to progress is speaking a lot, so I always try to include a lot of practice in my lessons. For example, a class may start with a text or video (more or less difficult depending on your level) to practice comprehension, then I'll ask you some specific questions about the document to see if you understood well and see the new vocabulary. Then I'll ask more generic questions around the theme of the video/text, so you talk about your opinion on the subject, related experiences... This way, you'll speak a lot and it allows me to identify easily if you may need some theoretical exercises on specific points.
But of course, I will always build my classes depending on your preferences and needs. If you are confortable using specifics learning methods or material, let me know and we will plan something together.
Let me you know if you have any questions, and I hope to see you soon!
I graduated in French Literature, Philosophy and History (Université Paris 10), and I hold a M. Sc. in Global Change Management (HNE Eberswalde).
Before I moved to São Paulo, Brazil, I lived five years in Berlin where I started to teach. There I tutored privately and also gave literacy classes in German for young refugees. From May 2017 to September 2017, I did training to be a French teacher and I taught French at the Technical University of Berlin for three semesters.
At the moment, I work with several language schools in São Paulo (IFESP, Versátil Idiomas, and the French Alliance). I have experience with teaching to all levels and ages. I also have experience in creating didactic material.
In parallel to my teaching activities, I also have a solid experience with translation work (English, German, Portuguese > French).
My methodology adapts to fit your desires, needs, and interests.
Depending on your objective with the French language (pass a test, work, travel, personal curiosity, etc.), I offer a customised learning path with lively and playful lessons.
During the last four years, I have gathered a large online collection of methods and teaching materials allowing me to build a learning path that is adapted for you. I can provide these free of charge.

To see our full FAQs or get help from our friendly team, click the '?' in the corner of the screen. You can also watch students talking about their experiences learning via LanguaTalk below.
1-on-1 lessons are perhaps the best way to improve speaking skills, and because of this many students use LanguaTalk to learn to speak French fluently. That said, some students have other, more specific goals. Tell your tutor what your goals are and they'll tailor the lessons to your needs. Most tutors can help with any of the following:
New to LanguaTalk? You'll have one credit for a free trial. Most tutors offer a trial for free. If they do not, they’ll offer a trial session at a discount compared to their usual hourly rate.
Trial sessions last 30 minutes. They allow you to assess whether the tutor is a good fit for you, and get a feel for learning online. The tutor will assess your level and aim to understand your needs and interests so that they can customise any lessons you decide to take. You'll be encouraged to speak in French as much as possible, but of course you can speak in English too!
After your session, if you feel that the tutor isn’t quite right for you, you can simply book a trial with someone else.
Most of the French tutors on our site are able to teach students of all levels. When you click on a tutor's profile you'll see if certain levels are not supported. For example, certain tutors cannot teach complete beginners.
Likewise, you can also see on the tutor's profile whether they're suitable for all ages. Online French lessons are sometimes taken to support school/college studies. Usually, the tutor will be able to customise the lessons to follow the material and topics covered in the student's exams. Please note that as per our Terms & Conditions, students who are under 18 must get permission from a legal guardian before booking.
Lessons are taught 1-on-1 so that you receive your tutor’s full attention and can make fast progress. Communicating via video call, you’ll be able to talk to your tutor and share learning materials as if you were in the same room.
The tutors vary in terms of their teaching methods, resources, experiences, and personalities. So we suggest you look at several profiles to choose the best tutor for you. Whichever French tutor you pick, they'll aim to tailor the lessons to your individual needs.
The vast majority of students take 55-minute lessons. But some tutors also provide the option of 30-minute lessons. If they do, you’ll see this noted on their profile (below their pricing and above the ‘Buy Lessons’ button).
55-minute lessons are recommended for most students. In general, we only suggest considering 30-minute lessons if they’re for your child, or you have an intermediate level and only want conversation practice.
We want students to have an exceptional learning experience on LanguaTalk, so we only accept the very best tutor applications. Though we consider qualifications and experience, we place equal value on communication skills, personality and reviews from previous students. Almost all tutors are native speakers of the language they teach, and we require that they can speak English too.
Each tutor is different - they have different backgrounds, strengths, teaching methods and personalities. So we suggest you browse several profiles to find the right French tutor for you.
The beauty of taking lessons online is that you can learn anytime, anywhere. To see tutors who are likely to fit your weekly schedule, use the availability filter at the top. Then when you see a tutor you like, check their profile calendar to make sure their time slots work for you. Some tutors have limited availability as they already have lots of students.
Our booking system is designed to be incredibly easy to use. You can see tutors' available hours in your local time zone. If you choose to book lessons with a tutor, you'll be able to purchase them one at a time, or buy in bulk with a volume discount. You can pay securely by card on our website.
You can manually add bookings to your personal calendar, or if you use Google calendar, you can add bookings automatically with our syncing feature. You'll also be able to receive email reminders to help ensure you don't forget to turn up.
You can reschedule or cancel lessons in a couple of clicks. Note that this can only be done up to 24 hours before the lesson time. This rule is required to protect tutors, who lose income when lessons are cancelled at the last minute.
Sometimes students feel uncertain about learning French online because they think it’ll be totally different to learning face-to-face. But usually when they try it, they find that the experience is almost the same and they often build a strong relationship with their tutor.
Once you start a video call with your chosen French tutor online, you’ll be able to communicate with them as if you were in the same room. They’ll usually also share learning resources with you (using Google Docs, YouTube etc.) and you’ll be able to collaborate in real-time.
According to the Foreign Service Institute, if you already speak English, French is one of the easiest languages to learn. The exact amount of time it will take you to become fluent will depend on many factors, such as your current level, your knowledge of similar languages, your capacity to learn, how you study, and how intensively you study. Some will be able to go from beginner to conversational fluency within a couple of months through intensive study. Others will take longer. Combining 1-on-1 lessons with an online French tutor with regular self-study is an effective way to learn French fast.
If you live in the US or Europe, face-to-face French lessons may cost anywhere between $20 and $60 (USD) per hour. Online tutoring tends to be cheaper than face-to-face because the tutor doesn't need to travel to you. An online French tutor could cost anywhere from $13 to $50 per hour, but be aware that very cheap tutors may lack experience. On LanguaTalk, French tutors typically charge between $14 and $40 per hour.
Of course, learning 1-on-1 with an experienced French tutor is not the cheapest way to learn; you could learn via a free app instead. But if you're serious about learning, nothing beats 1-on-1 French lessons with a great teacher.
There is no 'best way' to learn a language - it depends on your needs, level and budget. If you can't afford to take lessons, you can use a free app such as Duolingo to build your vocabulary. And to improve your listening skills, you can watch TV and listen to podcasts in French. But to learn how to actually speak a language, you need to talk to a native speaker on a regular basis and receive accurate feedback so that you improve. If you want to make fast progress, it's best to take 1-on-1 lessons that are tailored to your needs by an experienced online French teacher.
