Depending on your level in German, we come up with topics to talk about in order to practice your conversation skills: travel, politics, the cities we live in, art, culture, the news, your job, your dreams and goals - anything :) It doesn't matter if you're fluent or not, I will adjust to your level (A2 and up) so that you don't feel overwhelmed. Language learning should be fun!
Corrections and suggestions will be provided in the chatbox.
Given my background as a Communications Director at a global company I'm also happy to include business topics if that's of interest to you.
My classes are NOT for absolute beginners. As it is a conversation class, you must be able to hold at least a basic conversation.
I look forward to talking with you! :)

I'm born and raised in Germany so I'm a native German speaker. Currently I'm living in France and work here as a teacher for German as a scond and foreign language.
For more than six years I have been teaching German now in Germany and in France and with a lot of passion and joy for all levels and ages. It's a big pleasure for me to get to know so many cultures and people by teaching. Because of my stay in France, I speak French and of course also English.
In my classes I set the focus on you as an individual learner. So I prepare every lesson individually based on your personal needs. We will do various types of grammar exercises, reading comprehensions and of course we'll also talk a lot. I'm also having a lot of experience in successfully preparing students for German certificates (Goethe, telc) in all levels. You will benefit from my years of experience as I have a lot of learning material for all kinds of needs and occasions.

Hi! I am Larissa, I am originally from Frankfurt, Germany. Since 2019, I've been teaching German as a foreign language via video chat and in face-to-face sessions. My students come from all over the world, from various age groups and have different skill levels. Depending on your skill level and requirements, we might start at the very beginning, dig into some grammar, do listening, reading and/or conversational exercises. I can also help you with different exam preparations or getting you ready to travel/move to a German speaking country. I like to work with free online sources, but am also happy to work with any material that my students bring to class. It is important to me to create a friendly and judge free atmosphere for my students where they feel comfortable just speaking and asking questions.
I am very passionate about traveling, exploring other countries and learning languages. Teaching is a great way for me to meet people from all over the world and learning about their cultures as well. Currently I am located in Costa Rica and learning Spanish.

I am a qualified German/Swiss German teacher with 4 years of online language teaching experience. Based since 1999 in the UK, I have worked in different fields. I started my career as a violinist (Bachelor in Music Pedagogy,Advanced Diploma of Performance) , performing as a freelance musician in orchestras (Switzerland) and as a chamber musician, also teaching and preparing young students for ABRSM Grade Exams in the UK. Then I got into the London film and acting scene and did various supporting gigs in UK Film Studios and sets in London. In 2017 I trained as a Language Teacher in connection with staying in South Korea, which gave me a new perspective in terms of new technologies and online teaching, being geographically independent. Am also host of the Talk Show/Podcast 2x2 which can be watched on Youtube!
I appreciate being able to communicate with students around the world. I have prepared students for Goethe A1 - B2 exams and Swiss Citizenship Exams, lessons are individually tailored to help students reach their language goals, we work with German learning books, online videos and texts, media and literature (Easy Readers). There are less teaching materials for Swiss German, we use Hoi zäme or voCHabular, both Züridütsch materials, or Sali Zäme, Basel dialect. There is also a Bern dialect book or song texts, but it's always a bit of a search and mix and match. If you like a clear structure I suggest you to learn German up to about B1 and then try your luck at Swiss German!;)

Hello, I am Jan from Germany and I would like to help you learn German and improve your German. I offer lessons for all levels and prepare you for exams or job interviews, for example. I can support you in writing applications or other texts in German. Furthermore, I can also help you to speak German as an everyday language.
I have been tutoring foreign languages such as French and Spanish at a tutoring institute for over a year.
I work with the immersive learning method. This means that I speak with you mostly in German during class and only in exceptional cases in another language. In this way, new words and phrases can be learned subconsciously while you get used to speaking in the foreign language. No worries, I explain the grammar as easily and understandably as possible.
As teaching materials, I use, for example, song lyrics and texts from media on topics that interest you.
I currently live in Austria, in Innsbruck. There I study translation of French, Spanish, and German. I am very interested in languages, traveling, politics and photography.
I'm really looking forward to meeting you in a trial session. Bis bald! See you!

Learning German must be fun and if you can stay focused, motivated, you will make progress and succeed. That is my job, to help your reaching your goals. First, we will get to know each other so that I know what kind of learner you are, what you like, what your goals are and then I will design the perfect lesson plan for you. You need to learn German for school, study, work or to pass exams? No problem, I can help you. My main goal is that you can use the language, in everyday life, the language must be alive and from the first lesson, I can assure you, you will start to communicate in German.
I have been teaching this wonderful language for 11 years and I am certified by the “Goethe Institut”. I love languages and music. I think that learning makes us grow and be better people. We learn something everyday and that keeps us alive.
I am looking forward knowing you, bis bald, tschüss

Hello there!
Whether you want to travel in Germany and master daily basic communication, study and read German literature, communicate with business partners or live in Germany, I'd love to support you on your way. From total beginner to pre-academic level, levels A1-C1, preparing for the Goethe Certificate or the TELC, I invite you to learn German with me in a motivating and interactive way.
For now I teach in individual settings and currently undergo a German Teacher Training at the Goethe Institute.
Depending on your goals, my teaching approach varies from a more practical focus of daily communication and discussion, presentations and speaking in front of people to reading and understanding different kinds of text. The very base in all of these is a safe space that welcomes mistakes, so that you can learn from them.
I love using diverse learning material and resources and will provide you with that. Once we start, you will also figure out what material you enjoy learning with the most.
I hope to see you soon to help you along your German learning journey!

Hi, I'm Your new German teacher. Born and raised in Switzerland but now living in Peru. I'm an artist, graphic designer and much more. I speak fluent English, Spanish and good French. I love to teach online because it allows me both to get to know new people from all over the world but also to take good care of my family. I always try to improve my teaching methods and to help my students find the best materials for them to keep studying for themselves. Besides teaching grammar and vocabulary I also like to use videos, audio-recordings, and a virtual whiteboard. You'll not only learn the language but also some cultural aspects. And last but not least you'll enjoy spending your time having some fun! See You soon in my class ;)
See Reviews From StudentsThe beauty of taking classes online is that you can learn anytime, anywhere. When you choose a teacher, just check their calendar to make sure that they have available times that fit your schedule. Some teachers have limited availability as they already have a lot of students.
New to LanguaTalk? We'll give you a credit for a free trial session. Many, but not all, teachers offer these for free. If they do not, the price will be just 30 percent of their full lesson price, so you can still try a session at minimal cost.
Trial sessions last 30 minutes. They allow you to assess whether the teacher is a good fit for you, and get a feel for learning online. The teacher will assess your level and aim to understand your needs and interests so that they can customise any classes you decide to take. You'll be encouraged to speak in German as much as possible, but of course you can speak in English too!
If, after your trial session, you don't feel that the teacher is quite right for you, you can book a trial with another teacher for just 30 percent of their full lesson price.

3 - Take personalised classes with your new tutor via video call. Or try someone else.
No card is required to book a free trial session. Please only book if you're considering taking classes. Pricing varies by tutor and you can use the filter to find someone who fits your budget. You can pay one lesson at a time, or buy in bulk for a discount (open a tutor's profile to see their pricing options).
We’re confident you’ll love learning via LanguaTalk. We're trusted by students all over the world because we're transparent. We ask students to rate each lesson, and we display reviews on tutors’ profiles.
99.8% of lesson ratings are 5 stars. Why? Because unlike other platforms, we accept only the top 10% of tutor applications.
To see our full FAQs or get help from our friendly team, click the '?' in the corner of the screen. You can also watch students talking about their experiences learning via LanguaTalk below.
Lessons are taught 1-on-1 so that you receive your tutor’s full attention and can make fast progress. Communicating via video call, you’ll be able to talk to your tutor and share learning materials as if you were in the same room.
The tutors vary in terms of their teaching methods, resources, experiences, and personalities. So we suggest you look at several profiles to choose the best tutor for you. Whichever German tutor you pick, they'll aim to tailor the classes to your individual needs.
The vast majority of students take 55-minute classes. But some tutors also provide the option of 30-minute classes. If they do, you’ll see this noted on their profile (below their pricing and above the ‘Buy Lessons’ button).
55-minute classes are recommended for most students. In general, we only suggest considering 30-minute classes if they’re for your child, or you have an intermediate level and only want conversation practice.
Our research suggests that the average cost for private German classes for adults in Zurich is somewhere between $25-$35 per hour. As online teachers do not need to travel to you and they often live in countries with a lower cost of living, the hourly cost tends to be significantly lower.
Sometimes students tell us that they're not sure about learning German online because they think it’ll be completely different to learning face-to-face. But usually when they try it, they find that the experience is almost the same and they often build a solid relationship with their teacher.
Once you start a video call with your chosen teacher, you’ll be able to communicate with them as if you were in the same room. The teacher will typically also share learning resources with you (newspaper articles, YouTube, etc.) and you’ll be able to collaborate in real-time using a tool like Google Docs or Dropbox Paper.
Tutors on LanguaTalk sometimes provide classes for adults locally, but most only provide online classes for adults as it is more convenient and allows them to work from home. In addition, most tutors are not teaching German in Zurich because they're living elsewhere in the world. If you decide to book with a tutor, you should assume that they can only teach you online.
If you're really not keen on learning with a teacher via video call, LanguaTalk isn't going to be the right choice for you. You can instead search for a teacher on a local service listing website, or put up an advert in your local area. We do encourage you to give it a try learning online though - you've got nothing to lose as you can book a free trial session. Most people find the experience is as good as learning face-to-face, but with the benefit of having access to better teachers at a lower cost.
Whether you live in the city centre or the suburbs of Zurich, there are many options for learning German. You could use an app or a software program if you're looking to pick up basic vocabulary and learn some grammar rules. Alternatively, you could attend group classes for adults with German teachers in Zurich if you're keen for a social experience. Or, you could take 1-on-1 classes for adults with a private teacher. This isn't the cheapest way to learn a language but it's possibly the most effective, assuming you have a good teacher. Learning online rather than face-to-face may make private teachers a more affordable option. Check the teacher profiles above to see how much it's likely to cost. Prices vary a lot depending on the teacher, but will usually be cheaper than learning with a German teacher in Zurich, face-to-face.
