In-person language lessons with a teacher can be a great experience, but if you're unable to find an affordable private German teacher in Zurich, online learning may be a good option for you. To take lessons with a German teacher in your area, you may have to pay more to cover their travel costs or travel to their home, and the average cost of private German classes for adults in Zurich is over $20 per hour. With online learning, you can save on travel expenses and have access to top teachers from around the world.
Many students who try online language lessons with a teacher are pleasantly surprised by the experience. At LanguaTalk, lessons are 1-on-1 to ensure you get your teacher's full attention and can make rapid progress. Lessons are conducted via video call, allowing you to communicate with your teacher and share learning materials, as if you were in the same room. Give it a try with a free trial session and see for yourself!
You can watch German teacher intro videos, check their availability, and read reviews from their students on their profiles. You'll also see which learning needs, ages, and levels the teacher is comfortable with.
Are you new to LanguaTalk? When you sign up, you'll get a token for a complimentary 30-minute trial lesson. Use this to meet your chosen teacher and decide whether you want to keep taking classes with them or look for a German teacher in Zurich instead. (Please note: not all teachers offer a free trial lesson - some charge 30% of their regular lesson price.)
I have taught all levels at our national university language lab and privately. Also, I prepare for international examinations: *Goethe A1-A2-B1-B2-C1-C2, *TELC, *DSH, *Occupation Medicine B2-C1, *Workplace/occupation A2-B1, *Children A1-A2.
These are communicative, state-of-the-art and highly efficient classes that comprehensively integrate the four learning abilities of listening and reading comprehension, oral and written expression, but without compromising on the required grammar. That's because I have all the suitable tools at our disposal. In addition to the class and workbooks, we use an interactive PDF-whiteboard. We have numerous audio and video tracks, as well as other very efficient interactive tools. Levels range from beginner to advanced, from A1 to C2.
My approach is systematic but flexible, fully adapting to the learning pace of each student, so that they feel comfortable. And of course, I also try to make the class enjoyable and entertaining without leaving the academic objectives aside. In this sense, I know that most of you will need an international diploma at some point, and the methods I use are also aimed at this objective, as well as preparing you for colloquial communication in a new cultural environment. Every language is also a new culture, a new world.
I am looking forward to meeting you and showing you this new world in German. See you soon at the trial lesson. Bye!

Hello my name is Maria, I’m from Germany and currently I live in Bolivia.
I myself was raised multilingual and I live in a foreign country. So, I know how hard and sometimes even frustrating it can be to learn a language. That’s why I would like to help you. If you are a beginner its best to start with some structure. So, vocabulary, grammar and the structure of a sentence in general. If you are already advanced, we can concentrate on pronunciation and conversation. Of course, always in connection with listening, reading and writing.
I already helped some students to prepare for their Goethe and Telc Test in the Levels A1 to C1.See Reviews From Students
I am a qualified native German teacher (PGCE) from a town near Dortmund and I have been teaching German as a foreign language for over 30 years in a Grammar school setting in Northern Ireland. I have experience in the following: -
My teaching is as varied as my students are. I often use the online version of the textbook recommended by the Goethe Institute "Berliner Platz" A1, A2 and B1 level. I adapt my learning style to suit individual needs should you prefer conversational German or a more grammar focused lesson. I make the lesson enjoyable by including up to date teaching materials and refer to websites that will give the learner an insight into German culture as well, whenever possible, play quizzes such as Kahoot.See Reviews From Students

My name is Chris, I am from Austria and I would love to be your German teacher.
I have a wide variety of experience. I started teaching German during my studies. We exchanged languages, so I was able to learn some French, Italian, Polish and Russian. During a two-year long journey around the world, I was giving German lessons voluntarily in Russia, Korea, Vietnam and some more countries. For me it is great to help people achieving their goals. To do that, my first emphasis is to create a pleasant learning atmosphere. Building up on that, I use many techniques and exercises in order to aid your learning.
We can simply start from scratch, refresh your German, or have some advanced level classes. I will tailor the lessons according to your needs and your German will improve fast. During our trial lesson we can talk about your expectations and needs, and I will tell you how I plan to support and teach you.

There are many ways to teach a lesson. I'm a lover of a varied approach whenever applicable. I can honestly say that I will always do my very best to find suitable methods in order to facilitate comprehension and learning.
Over the course of a lesson, I might use audio files, videos, transcripts, books, worksheets or custom-tailored exercises that I feel are best suited for that particular student. Likewise, I will also train conversation - practical or otherwise.
I highly value being kind, patient, modest and encouraging. I always strive to create an environment that fosters a positive feeling. An inviting atmosphere is essential for learning anything at all. I welcome mistakes students make because it's normal to do so, plus that is one of the best ways to learn something properly.
My ultimate goal for you, as my student, is to enjoy yourself while learning and progressing!
Students are different, and all have their own individual needs and expectations. I see myself as someone who is guiding them along their chosen path. Occasionally prompting them to discover (the beauty of) a concept here and there they might otherwise have overlooked. Helping them to develop long-term strategies that will make them feel accomplished and self-assured.
Qualifications & Experience
I've studied at a German university. I've worked as a full time teacher in German trade schools for many years. I've easily taught more than 4,500 lessons over the years. I taught students from all walks of life, with their ages ranging from fifteen to forty-five years.
Teaching, in general, has always been something that I deeply admire. To be able to help others comprehend a concept, and to contribute to their learning progress, is a meaningful endeavour and deeply rewarding! I enjoy it more than I could ever adequately describe.
I look forward to helping and getting to know more people here! Let's have many wonderful learning experiences together!

my name is Florentin, I've been teaching German for the last 8 years, working both with groups at university and 1-on-1.
Maybe the most important aspect for me is the atmosphere in which you can be at ease and speak freely without any fear of making mistakes. Mistakes are not only a natural part of the process, but have to be made and will help your understanding. Our class is a safe space where you can express yourself exactly as you do now and ask all the questions you may have.
In a session we might do conversational exercise, go over your texts together, listen to music to improve listening comprehension, rehearse an exam, take a clarifying look into any specific topic you feel slightly or heavily confused about, read a book or text of your choice together or do grammar exercises, advance your German from the ground up, play some games to get familiar with this language.
All these activities, that can be fun, can also help us see what is needed for you to advance - in your own way and in your own time.
We can use my materials and you are also welcome to bring whatever you would like to work with.
More about me:
I initially started teaching German after a one-year journey through South America which I undertook after graduating from university. During these travels I learned Spanish and subsequently got the task of offering tuition to students at university who were struggling with reading academic texts in German. Thereafter I started teaching all German levels to different groups at university and also to students individually and have been doing so for over 8 years now, in-person and online. I've also been leading translation groups and lecturing on other language topics like language philosophy.
Living and teaching German in other countries for several years gave me deeper insight both into learning languages and into my own mother tongue and during that time I naturally adopted the role of a bridge between cultures and languages.
I speak English and Spanish fluently and one of these languages could serve as additional support for our work together in case we share it :)See Reviews From Students
One of the benefits of online classes is that you can learn anytime, anywhere. When you choose a teacher, simply check their calendar to ensure that they have times that fit your schedule. Some teachers may have limited availability due to high demand.
If you're new to LanguaTalk, we'll provide you with a credit for a free trial session. Many, but not all, teachers offer these for free. If a tutor does not offer a free trial, the trial price will be 30 percent of their full lesson price, allowing you to still try a session at a reduced cost.
Trial sessions last 30 minutes. They allow you to determine if the teacher is a good fit for you and get a sense of what online learning is like. The teacher will assess your level and try to understand your needs and interests so that they can tailor any classes you choose to take. You'll be encouraged to speak as much as possible in German, but you can also speak in English if needed.
If, after your trial session, you don't feel that the teacher is right for you, you can book a trial with another teacher for 30 percent of their full lesson price.
Most students take 55-minute classes. However, some tutors also offer the option of 30-minute classes. If this option is available, it will be noted on the tutor's profile (below their pricing and above the 'Buy Lessons' button).
In general, 55-minute classes are recommended for most students. 30-minute classes may be suitable if you're taking lessons for your child or if you have an intermediate level and only want conversation practice.
LanguaTalk offers personalized 1-on-1 German classes with top-rated tutors. Here's how to get started:
1 - Find a tutor that meets your needs by reviewing their videos, reviews, pricing, and availability.
2 - Book a trial lesson. Many tutors offer a free 30-minute trial, while others offer a discounted trial price.
3 - Have personalized classes with your chosen tutor via video call. Or try a different tutor if desired.
You don't need to provide credit card information to book a free trial session. Please only book a trial if you're seriously considering taking classes. Tutor prices vary, and you can use the filter to find one that fits your budget. You can pay for individual lessons or purchase a package for a discount (view a tutor's pricing options on their profile).
We're confident you'll enjoy learning on LanguaTalk. Our platform is trusted by students worldwide because of our transparency. We ask students to rate each lesson, and we display these ratings on tutor profiles.
99.8% of lesson ratings are 5 stars. This is because we only accept the top 10% of tutor applications, unlike other platforms.
To access our full list of FAQs or get assistance from our friendly team, click the '?' in the corner of the screen. You can also watch students sharing their experiences learning on LanguaTalk below.
Lessons are taught one-on-one to ensure that you receive customized instruction. During the classes, your tutor will use a variety of teaching methods and resources, including language exercises, conversation practice, and cultural notes, to help you reach your learning objectives.
All classes take place via video call. Your tutor will normally give you a choice of calling tools, all of which are easy to use.
If you prefer in-person classes for adults over online learning, LanguaTalk may not be the best fit for you. Instead, you can search for a teacher on a local service listing website or place an advertisement in your area. However, we do encourage you to try online learning – you have nothing to lose by booking a free trial session. Many students find that the online experience is just as good as in-person learning, with the added benefit of access to higher quality teachers at a lower cost.
Our research suggests that the average hourly rate for private German classes for adults in Zurich is between $25-$35. Since online teachers don't have to travel to you and often live in countries with a lower cost of living, their hourly rate tends to be significantly lower.
Some tutors on LanguaTalk may also provide in-person classes for adults in Zurich, but most only offer online classes for adults as it is more convenient and allows them to work from home. Additionally, most tutors are not located in Zurich because they are living elsewhere in the world. If you book a lesson with a tutor, you should assume that the lesson will be conducted online.
Some students might be unsure about learning German online because they think it will be very different from in-person learning. However, many students find that the online experience is similar and they often develop strong relationships with their teacher.
Once you start a video call with your selected teacher, you'll be able to communicate with them as if you were in the same room. The teacher may also share learning resources with you (such as newspaper articles or YouTube videos) and you'll be able to collaborate in real-time using tools like Google Docs or Dropbox Paper.
