Hi, I am Elmar from Austria. With a great passion for teaching German and English, I have been helping students of different levels worldwide.  

For beginners, I promise to take the first step with you with patience, clarity, encouragement, and fun. For intermediate and advanced learners, I can explain complex grammar and perfect your skills from all aspects. For students with specific needs, I am ready to help with language exams, business or daily conversational needs, etc.  

Additionally, I am from the financial industry with decent knowledge in various topics. It will be my pleasure to share my culture and be your Austrian friend!

I am a patient and dedicated German tutor and I have worked with adults and children of all ages and German levels, so I have teaching material for every level and for exam preparation. Recently, I helped one of my students to pass the Goethe B2 exam. I started teaching languages 5 years ago and obtained a teaching certificate. I´ve been teaching German online for about 3 years. My mother tongues are German and Spanish, but I also speak English (C1 level) and a little bit of French.

Every student is unique, that´s why I prepare each lesson carefully, taking into account the needs, interests and learning goal of my students. The structure of the lesson also depends on the way of learning that works best for you. That´s what we are going to discuss in the trial lesson. You will also get an idea about how our lessons will be. And as I get to know more about your interests and hobbies, I can prepare lessons with topics that are interesting and practical for you. 

We will practice reading, listening, writing and speaking. Therefore, we will use videos, worksheets, online exercises, dialogues or role-plays. We will practice everyday German and the vocabulary that you personally need. I will also guide you patiently through the grammar topics. If you want, I will give you homework after the lesson.

 I am a qualified German/Swiss German teacher with 4 years of online language teaching experience. Based since 1999 in the UK, I have worked in different fields. I started my career as a violinist (Bachelor in Music Pedagogy,Advanced Diploma of Performance) , performing as a freelance musician in orchestras (Switzerland) and as a chamber musician, also teaching and preparing young students for ABRSM Grade Exams in the UK. Then I got into the London film and acting scene and did various supporting gigs in UK Film Studios and sets in London. In 2017 I trained as a Language Teacher in connection with staying in South Korea, which gave me a new perspective in terms of new technologies and online teaching, being geographically independent. I appreciate being able to communicate with students around the world. I have prepared students for Goethe A1 - B2 exams and Swiss Citizenship Exams, lessons are individually tailored to help students reach their language goals, we work with German learning books, online videos and texts, media and literature (Easy Readers). There are less teaching materials for Swiss German, we use Hoi zäme or voCHabular, both Züridütsch materials, or Sali Zäme, Basel dialect. There is also a Bern dialect book or song texts, but it's always a bit of a search and mix and match. If you like a clear structure I suggest you to learn German up to about B1 and then try your luck at Swiss German!;)

my name is Florentin, I've been teaching German for the last 8 years, working both with groups at university and 1-on-1.

Maybe the most important aspect for me is the atmosphere in which you can be at ease and speak freely without any fear of  making mistakes. Mistakes are not only natural and part of the process, but have to be made and will help your understanding. Our class is a safe space where you can express yourself exactly as you do now and ask all the questions you may have.

In a session we might do conversational exercise, rehearse an exam, go over your texts together, take a clarifying look into any specific topic you feel slightly or heavily confused about, listen, read a text of your choice together or do grammar exercises, advance your German from scratch, play some games to get familiar with this language. All these activities that can be fun can also help us see what is needed for you to advance - in your own way and in your own time.

We can use my materials and you are also welcome to bring whatever you would like to work with.

More about me:
I initially started teaching German after a one-year journey through South America which I undertook after graduating from university. During these travels I learned Spanish and subsequently got the task of offering tuition to students at university who were struggling with reading academic texts in German. Thereafter I started teaching all German levels to different groups at university and also to students individually and have been doing so for over 8 years now, in-person and online. I've also been leading translation groups and lecturing on other language topics like language philosophy. 
Living and teaching German in other countries for several years gave me deeper insight both into learning languages and into my own mother tongue and during that time I naturally adopted the role of a bridge between cultures and languages. 

I speak English and Spanish fluently and one of these languages could serve as additional support for our work together in case we share it :)

I am a qualified native German teacher (PGCE) from a town near Dortmund and I have been teaching German as a foreign language for over 30 years in a Grammar school setting in Northern Ireland. I have experience in the following: - 

• Teaching German as a private tutor face to face and online. 
• Teaching students to GCSE and A level examinations in my school and privately.
• Prepared students of all ages for the Goethe Institute level A2 and B1 examination.
• Teaching the Junior and Leaving Higher Certificate in German. 
• Teaching children who were born or had lived in Germany for some time but then moved back to the UK and successfully helped them retain their German and also complete the GCSE and A2 examinations for the Goethe Institute. 
• Teaching adults who have relocated to Germany and needed to pass the B1 examination to apply for Citizenship in Germany.
•  I also have given lessons to students who simply enjoyed learning German for fun and travel. 

My teaching is as varied as my students are. I often use the online version of the textbook recommended  by the Goethe Institute "Berliner Platz" A1, A2 and B1 level. I adapt my learning style to suit individual needs should you prefer conversational German or a more grammar focused lesson. I make the lesson enjoyable by including up to date teaching materials and refer to websites that will give the learner an insight into German culture as well, whenever possible, play quizzes such as Kahoot.

My name is Chris, I am from Austria and I would love to be your German teacher. 

I have a wide variety of experience. I started teaching German during my studies. We exchanged languages, so I was able to learn some French, Italian, Polish and Russian. During a two-year long journey around the world, I was giving German lessons voluntarily in Russia, Korea, Vietnam and some more countries. For me it is great to help people achieving their goals. To do that, my first emphasis is to create a pleasant learning atmosphere. Building up on that, I use many techniques and exercises in order to aid your learning.

We can simply start from scratch, refresh your German, or have some advanced level classes. I will tailor the lessons according to your needs and your German will improve fast. During our trial lesson we can talk about your expectations and needs, and I will tell you how I plan to support and teach you.

Teaching Approach

There are many ways to teach a lesson. I'm a lover of a varied approach whenever applicable. I can honestly say that I will always do my very best to find suitable methods in order to facilitate comprehension and learning.

Over the course of a lesson, I might use audio files, videos, transcripts, books, worksheets or custom-tailored exercises that I feel are best suited for that particular student. Likewise, I will also train conversation - practical or otherwise.

I highly value being kind, patient, modest and encouraging. I always strive to create an environment that fosters a positive feeling. An inviting atmosphere is essential for learning anything at all. I welcome mistakes students make because it's normal to do so, plus that is one of the best ways to learn something properly.

My ultimate goal for you, as my student, is to enjoy yourself while learning and progressing!

Students are different, and all have their own individual needs and expectations. I see myself as someone who is guiding them along their chosen path. Occasionally prompting them to discover (the beauty of) a concept here and there they might otherwise have overlooked. Helping them to develop long-term strategies that will make them feel accomplished and self-assured.

Qualifications & Experience

I've studied at a German university. I've worked as a full time teacher in German trade schools for many years. I've easily taught more than 4,500 lessons over the years. I taught students from all walks of life, with their ages ranging from fifteen to forty-five years.
