I am a qualified native German teacher (PGCE) from a town near Dortmund and I have been teaching German as a foreign language for over 30 years in a Grammar school setting in Northern Ireland. I have experience in the following: -

I make the lesson enjoyable by including up to date teaching materials and refer to websites that will give the learner an insight into German culture as well, whenever possible, play quizzes such as Kahoot.

My name is Marie and I'd like to help you to improve your German.

I was born and raised in Germany so I'm a native German speaker. Currently I'm living in France and work here as a teacher for German as a second and foreign language. 

For more than seven years I have been teaching German now in Germany and in France and with a lot of passion and joy for all levels and ages. It's a big pleasure for me to get to know so many cultures and people by teaching. Because of my stay in France, I speak French and of course also English.

Some facts about me: I was born in Spain and raised in Germany, so Spanish and German are my native languages, but I also speak English (C1 level), French (B2 level), and a little bit of Portuguese. Over the last 30 years I have taught languages (English, German, and Spanish) to children and adults of all ages and levels. I've helped several students to pass different language exams.

Until recently, I was employed as a teacher at a school for two years, teaching German as a foreign and second language and physical education from 5th to 10th grade. I spent one year alone in Asia- and one year in Africa, gaining experience in teaching there. I was teaching at the time as part of volunteer work and also privately.

I myself was raised multilingual and I live in a foreign country. So, I know how hard and sometimes even frustrating it can be to learn a language. That’s why I would like to help you. If you are a beginner its best to start with some structure. So, vocabulary, grammar and the structure of a sentence in general. If you are already advanced, we can concentrate on pronunciation and conversation. Of course, always in connection with listening, reading and writing.

I already helped some students to prepare for their Goethe and Telc Test in the Levels A1 to C1.

Teaching Approach

There are many ways to teach a lesson. I'm a lover of a varied approach whenever applicable. I can honestly say that I will always do my very best to find suitable methods in order to facilitate comprehension and learning.

Over the course of a lesson, I might use audio files, videos, transcripts, books, worksheets or custom-tailored exercises that I feel are best suited for that particular student. Likewise, I will also train conversation - practical or otherwise.

I highly value being kind, patient, modest and encouraging. I always strive to create an environment that fosters a positive feeling. An inviting atmosphere is essential for learning anything at all. I welcome mistakes students make because it's normal to do so, plus that is one of the best ways to learn something properly.

My ultimate goal for you, as my student, is to enjoy yourself while learning and progressing!

Students are different, and all have their own individual needs and expectations. I see myself as someone who is guiding them along their chosen path. Occasionally prompting them to discover (the beauty of) a concept here and there they might otherwise have overlooked. I am a patient and dedicated German tutor (check my reviews :) ) and I have worked with adults and children of all ages and German levels, so I have teaching material for every level and for exam preparation. Recently, I helped one of my students to pass the Goethe B2 exam. I started teaching languages 5 years ago and obtained a teaching certificate. I´ve been teaching German online for about 3 years. My name is Beatrice, and I’m excited that you want to learn my native language, German, or Swiss German. 

For the last 10 years, I have taught German to colleagues and friends, and since February 2023, I have been teaching German online. So far, I have helped an A2 and a B1 student pass their TELC German certificates in Summer 2023.  I have an English, French and Spanish language certificate, and I'm following training for a German language teaching degree.  

It is important for me that you enjoy learning German, that I can help you in a well-understood and enjoyable way, and that you reach your goals. It is up to you what you wish to learn — if you need German for your profession, for traveling, or if you want to pass a Goethe or TELC language certificate. 

For many years, I lived in Germany, Switzerland and Spain. There, I worked in tourism as well as customer service in the front and back offices as an agent and team leader. Now I’m teaching online while traveling the world. My first destination is Spain, the Canary Island of Gran Canaria, and my second destination is the Island of Malta.
