I am a qualified native German teacher (PGCE) from a town near Dortmund and I have been teaching German as a foreign language for over 30 years in a Grammar school setting in Northern Ireland. I have experience in the following: - 

• Teaching German as a private tutor face to face and online. 
• Teaching students to GCSE and A level examinations in my school and privately.
• Prepared students of all ages for the Goethe Institute level A2 and B1 examination.
• Teaching the Junior and Leaving Higher Certificate in German. 
• Teaching children who were born or had lived in Germany for some time but then moved back to the UK and successfully helped them retain their German and also complete the GCSE and A2 examinations for the Goethe Institute. 
• Teaching adults who have relocated to Germany and needed to pass the B1 examination to apply for Citizenship in Germany.
•  I also have given lessons to students who simply enjoyed learning German for fun and travel. 

My teaching is as varied as my students are. I often use the online version of the textbook recommended  by the Goethe Institute "Berliner Platz" A1, A2 and B1 level. I adapt my learning style to suit individual needs should you prefer conversational German or a more grammar focused lesson. I make the lesson enjoyable by including up to date teaching materials and refer to websites that will give the learner an insight into German culture as well, whenever possible, play quizzes such as Kahoot.

Hi, I'm Your new German teacher. Born and raised in Switzerland but now living in Peru. I'm an artist, graphic designer and much more. I speak fluent English, Spanish and good French. I love to teach online because it allows me both to get to know new people from all over the world but also to take good care of my family. Teaching Approach

There are many ways to teach a lesson. I'm a lover of a varied approach whenever applicable. I can honestly say that I will always do my very best to find suitable methods in order to facilitate comprehension and learning.

Over the course of a lesson, I might use audio files, videos, transcripts, books, worksheets or custom-tailored exercises that I feel are best suited for that particular student. Likewise, I will also train conversation - practical or otherwise.

I highly value being kind, patient, modest and encouraging. I always strive to create an environment that fosters a positive feeling. An inviting atmosphere is essential for learning anything at all. I welcome mistakes students make because it's normal to do so, plus that is one of the best ways to learn something properly.

My ultimate goal for you, as my student, is to enjoy yourself while learning and progressing!

Students are different, and all have their own individual needs and expectations. I see myself as someone who is guiding them along their chosen path. Occasionally prompting them to discover (the beauty of) a concept here and there they might otherwise have overlooked. Helping them to develop long-term strategies that will make them feel accomplished and self-assured.

Qualifications & Experience

I've studied at a German university. I've worked as a full time teacher in German trade schools for many years. I've easily taught more than 4,500 lessons over the years. I taught students from all walks of life, with their ages ranging from fifteen to forty-five years.

 I am a qualified German/Swiss German teacher with 4 years of online language teaching experience. Based since 1999 in the UK, I have worked in different fields. I started my career as a violinist (Bachelor in Music Pedagogy,Advanced Diploma of Performance) , performing as a freelance musician in orchestras (Switzerland) and as a chamber musician, also teaching and preparing young students for ABRSM Grade Exams in the UK. Then I got into the London film and acting scene and did various supporting gigs in UK Film Studios and sets in London. In 2017 I trained as a Language Teacher in connection with staying in South Korea, which gave me a new perspective in terms of new technologies and online teaching, being geographically independent. Am also host of the Talk Show/Podcast 2x2 which can be watched on Youtube! 

I appreciate being able to communicate with students around the world. I have prepared students for Goethe A1 - B2 exams and Swiss Citizenship Exams, lessons are individually tailored to help students reach their language goals, we work with German learning books, online videos and texts, media and literature (Easy Readers). There are less teaching materials for Swiss German, we use Hoi zäme or voCHabular, both Züridütsch materials, or Sali Zäme, Basel dialect. There is also a Bern dialect book or song texts, but it's always a bit of a search and mix and match. If you like a clear structure I suggest you to learn German up to about B1 and then try your luck at Swiss German!;)

Hi! I'm Tabea. I was born in Heidelberg (Germany) and I grew up in Spain, so I am bilingual in German and Spanish.

I started working as a German tutor while I was still travelling a lot between Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece and the UK. I soon found out that I really enjoyed online teaching, since I had the chance to meet people from all over the world. I love learning things about other cultures and languages, as well as improving my teaching skills.
