I am a qualified native German teacher (PGCE) from a town near Dortmund and I have been teaching German as a foreign language for over 30 years in a Grammar school setting in Northern Ireland. I have experience in the following: - 

• Teaching German as a private tutor face to face and online. 
• Teaching students to GCSE and A level examinations in my school and privately.
• Prepared students of all ages for the Goethe Institute level A2 and B1 examination.
• Teaching the Junior and Leaving Higher Certificate in German. 
• Teaching children who were born or had lived in Germany for some time but then moved back to the UK and successfully helped them retain their German and also complete the GCSE and A2 examinations for the Goethe Institute. 
• Teaching adults who have relocated to Germany and needed to pass the B1 examination to apply for Citizenship in Germany.
•  I also have given lessons to students who simply enjoyed learning German for fun and travel. 

My teaching is as varied as my students are. I often use the online version of the textbook recommended  by the Goethe Institute "Berliner Platz" A1, A2 and B1 level. I adapt my learning style to suit individual needs should you prefer conversational German or a more grammar focused lesson. I make the lesson enjoyable by including up to date teaching materials and refer to websites that will give the learner an insight into German culture as well, whenever possible, play quizzes such as Kahoot.

Then I'm the right teacher for you!  In my German lessons you will not only learn the correct pronunciation and grammar but also a lot of useful facts and details about the German culture and way of living. This will help you if you are already living in a German-speaking country or plan to move there. I can also help you with exam preparation, such as Goethe-Test, Telc, or TestDaF.

In our German lessons you will find a safe space to practice speaking, make mistakes, get feedback, and little by little get more confident. Together we will create a tailored program designed to practice the specific situations where you will need to use German. We will use role plays, audios, videos, and a lot of different materials in order to improve your speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. Every student has a different learning pace and different needs and interests. In the trial lesson I will find out what your goals are and with that information I will be able to adapt my German lessons so that you will learn German and enjoy doing it! 

Since I have a Zoom Business account, you won't need to reconnect to the meeting during our  lessons (55 minutes).

Some facts about me: I was born in Spain and raised in Germany, so Spanish and German are my native languages, but I also speak English (C1 level), French (B2 level), and a little bit of Portuguese. Over the last 30 years I have taught languages (English, German, and Spanish) to children and adults of all ages and levels. I've helped several students to pass different language exams.

Hello, I am Jan from Germany and I would like to help you learn German and improve your German. I offer lessons for all levels and prepare you for exams or job interviews, for example. I can support you in writing applications or other texts in German. Furthermore, I can also help you to speak German as an everyday language.

I have been tutoring foreign languages such as French and Spanish at a tutoring institute for over a year. I have worked for 6 month in a German language school in Medellín, Colombia. There, I taught a group of 10 persons online at the A2 level. I also gave additional lessons in grammar or vocabulary for the levels A1 to B2.

I work with the immersive learning method. This means that I speak with you mostly in German during class and only in exceptional cases in another language. In this way, new words and phrases can be learned subconsciously while you get used to speaking in the foreign language. No worries, I explain the grammar as easily and understandably as possible.

As teaching materials, I use, for example, song lyrics and texts from media on topics that interest you.

I am about to finish my translation studies of French, Spanish, and German in Innsbruck, Austria. I am very interested in languages, traveling, politics and photography.

Hello, my name is Nataliia . Teaching German is not only my job, but also my hobby, which makes me a happy person. I will be happy to share this happiness with you during exciting and not at all boring German lessons!

The lessons with me are a complete immersion in the world of the fascinating German language. I only use authentic materials (books from Klett, Hueber, Cornelsen; blogs, music, videos by Germans), lots of interactive exercises, games. Lessons are based on the student's preferences, so I select the material individually, depending on the student's wishes and hobbies. I organize the lessons so that 80% of the lessons are spoken by the student. We have conversations, discuss current problems in the life of Germans and other peoples. Lessons with me is not only learning a foreign language, but also constant self-development, improvement in various areas of knowledge.

Teaching Approach

There are many ways to teach a lesson. I'm a lover of a varied approach whenever applicable. I can honestly say that I will always do my very best to find suitable methods in order to facilitate comprehension and learning.

Over the course of a lesson, I might use audio files, videos, transcripts, books, worksheets or custom-tailored exercises that I feel are best suited for that particular student. Likewise, I will also train conversation - practical or otherwise.

I highly value being kind, patient, modest and encouraging. I always strive to create an environment that fosters a positive feeling. An inviting atmosphere is essential for learning anything at all. I welcome mistakes students make because it's normal to do so, plus that is one of the best ways to learn something properly.

My ultimate goal for you, as my student, is to enjoy yourself while learning and progressing!

Students are different, and all have their own individual needs and expectations. I see myself as someone who is guiding them along their chosen path. Occasionally prompting them to discover (the beauty of) a concept here and there they might otherwise have overlooked. Helping them to develop long-term strategies that will make them feel accomplished and self-assured.

Qualifications & Experience

I've studied at a German university. I've worked as a full time teacher in German trade schools for many years. I've easily taught more than 4,500 lessons over the years. I taught students from all walks of life, with their ages ranging from fifteen to forty-five years.
